The YMCA of Greater Cleveland is grateful to receive a $100,000 State of Ohio capital budget award to support upcoming renovation plans at the Lakewood Family YMCA.

We extend our sincere thanks to State Senator Nickie Antonio and State Representative Tristan Rader for their leadership and advocacy on behalf of the Lakewood community and the YMCA.

For more than 105 years, the Lakewood Family YMCA has been a place where individuals and families strengthen their health, build connections and find support. We are also proud to celebrate 20 years in our current facility. This investment will help ensure we can continue serving the Lakewood community for generations to come.

This past Friday evening, we held a special event to celebrate the 20th anniversary of our branch and reflect on the 105+ years that the YMCA has been supporting the Lakewood community. Special thanks to Rep. Tristan Rader for the wonderful proclamation from the Ohio Statehouse recognizing our work!

Community members came together to hear comments from our Executive Director Kevin Born-Crow, President and CEO Tim Hilk, and our volunteer leaders Fred DeGrandis and Lauren Graf. Attendees heard about the exciting future plans in store for the Lakewood Y and enjoyed a wonderful night spent in Susan's Garden to celebrate the Y and all the work we do. Special thanks to our Lakewood City Council leaders here to support us: Cindy Strebig, Angelina Hamilton Steiner, and Tom Bullock. Thank you all for being here and here's to another 20 years serving Lakewood!

Lakewood residents: Looking for an opportunity to connect with your local elected officials and neighbors?

We're pleased to host Lakewood City Council's Ward 1 Community Conversation at the Lakewood Family YMCA on Wednesday, Aug. 5, at 6:30 p.m.

These summertime conversations give residents the chance to hear updates from City Council, ask questions, share ideas and discuss issues that matter most to the community. While the discussion will focus on Ward 1, all Lakewood residents are welcome to attend.

We're proud to provide a welcoming space where community conversations can happen.

Today we had the privilege of celebrating one of our greatest strengths—our people.

Staff members from across the YMCA of Greater Cleveland were recognized for reaching milestone anniversaries of 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 years of service. President & CEO Timothy Hilk personally thanked each honoree and presented their service awards, recognizing the commitment, compassion and leadership they bring to our Y every day. Picture are Tish Bowling from Youth Development; Nancy Friel from our Hillcrest branch; Cynthia Moore from our Lakewood branch and Angelea Patrick from our West Park branch.

Whether they're welcoming members, teaching children to swim, supporting individuals in recovery, leading fitness classes or strengthening our communities in countless other ways, these dedicated team members have made a lasting impact on thousands of lives.

Thank you for your years of service and for living our mission every day. Together, we're building stronger people, stronger families and stronger communities. 💙
