A small cut in the eye of your web sling can cost you 75% of its strength. Watch us put this damaged web sling to the test!

This web sling has a working load limit of 6,400 lbs. and a minimum breaking strength of 32,000 lbs. But with a cut in the eye, it failed at just 7,300 lbs. of force. That's roughly a 75% loss of strength, failing at barely more than its rated working load. A cut concentrates stress at the damaged fibers, giving the load a starting point to tear right through. And with this much damage, any amount of shock loading, would break this sling before it ever reached its working load limit. Any sling with cuts, snags, or damage must be immediately removed from service and never used in the field.
