🐴 Learning to ride starts with the obvious things.
How to sit.
How to steer.
How to stop.
How to communicate with a horse.
But somewhere along the way, riders start learning a few other things too.
Confidence when something feels new.
Patience when it doesn't happen the first time.
Responsibility for an animal much bigger than they are.
And the quiet satisfaction of realizing—
“I can do this.”
At Sly Fox Stables, we offer riding lessons for different levels and goals, from beginners learning their way around a horse to riders ready to develop their skills in Western riding, barrel racing and advanced riding.
Sometimes the best lessons aren't the ones you came to the barn expecting to learn. 🐴❤️
Come ride with us.

☕ CEO COFFEE TALK
A peaceful pasture is usually a sign that everyone feels safe.
That’s something worth protecting.
Monday morning rounds:
🐴 Check the pastures.
🐱 Find the kittens hiding in the hay bales.
🐮 Make sure the Highland babies haven’t started anything.
🦚 Remind the VP that looking important is not the same as being productive.
🐔 Check on the chickens.
☕ Refill coffee.
In that order.
Probably.

This week’s Hitching Post is a little different. ❤️
It’s been a quiet weekend at Sly Fox as our family gathered to celebrate the life of Robert “Bob” Joyner.
Volume 1 • Issue 6 is for Bob — and the farm he and Bettie built.
We hope you’ll take a moment to read it. 🐴❤️

**Where your horse lives matters. ❤️🐴**
It's more than a stall and a pasture.
It's knowing someone notices when your horse isn't acting quite like themselves.
It's room to move, a routine they can settle into, and people who genuinely care about the animals entrusted to them.
At Sly Fox Stables, boarding includes:
🌾 House grain & coastal hay
🐴 Daily turnout in a relaxed country setting
💡 Lighted riding arena
⭕ Round pen
🩺 Quarterly deworming
❤️ Attentive, hands-on care
And maybe most importantly...
**A place where horses get to be horses.**

Sly fox stables will be closed 8-29-2026 due to family and friends gathering in the passing of my father aka Bob Joyner sorry for any inconvenience
🦚 **OFFICE OF THE VP OF LOOKING IMPORTANT**
It has come to my attention that the **weekend has arrived.**
I have reviewed the schedule and determined that Saturday and Sunday will require my full attention.
My weekend responsibilities will include:
• Making several unnecessary appearances around the property
• Inspecting arriving visitors
• Casually wandering through photographs 📸
• Checking on the horses without actually helping
• Monitoring all picnic-area activity
• Keeping an eye on the Highland babies
• Looking magnificent at all times
It's a demanding position. Fortunately, I am extremely qualified.
Whatever brings you to Sly Fox Stables this weekend—horses, lessons, photos, a visit, or simply some time in the country—
**I'll be watching.**
Probably from somewhere inconvenient.
Have a wonderful weekend. 🦚

FRIDAY MORNING AT SLY FOX 🌿
The horses have had breakfast.
The chickens have already held at least one meeting that could've been a text.
The Highland babies are undoubtedly plotting something.
And somewhere on the property, Mr. Redd is probably supervising absolutely nobody. 🦊
Just another Friday morning in the country.
The weekend is almost here, the pastures are green, and we're pretty sure this is exactly where we'd rather be.
Good morning from Sly Fox Stables. 🐴🌾

🥩 Supper Club is calling in an expert.
When it comes to beef, Alton Brown knows his way around a steak — but what we really love is that he knows how to teach the home cook to do it right.
He doesn't just show you a beautiful finished rib-eye and leave you to figure out how he got there. He explains the heat, the timing, the technique and the why behind what you're doing so you can recreate it in your own kitchen.
And for a gorgeous rib-eye? That's exactly the kind of instruction we want. 🔥
So tonight, we're handing Supper Club over to Alton and the cast iron.
Got a rib-eye waiting in the freezer?
Tonight might be its night. 🥩

🎈 **So THAT'S what all the casserole dishes are about...**
Some gatherings don't need a ballroom.
They need room for the kids to run.
A table full of food everybody brought.
A cake somebody spent way too much time decorating.
Balloons tied to whatever will hold still.
People laughing under the pavilion.
And a whole farm happening all around it. ❤️
Sly Fox Stables offers a relaxed country setting for birthdays, family gatherings, showers and other celebrations where you'd rather **spread out, slow down and actually enjoy the people you invited.**
Bring the food.
Bring the cake.
Bring the balloons.
**We'll provide the country.** 🌿🐴
📩 Message us to talk about your gathering and what you have in mind.

🐔 **COOP TALK**
Word around the coop is there's been a lot going on lately.
Two Highland calves showed up and immediately became celebrities.
The peacock still walks around like he owns the place.
The horses get ridden around for fun and somehow *they're* the important ones.
Photographers wander around taking pictures of everybody without so much as an appointment with management.
Families keep showing up carrying casserole dishes, cakes and balloons.
Nobody has explained why.
The Chicken Committee suspects celebrations. 🎈
And now there's been an ACTUAL FOX spotted near the Sly Fox Stables sign.
..
Ladies...
We may need to revisit security.
The dogs have been called into a meeting.
The cats were unavailable for comment.
