FOREVER REMEMBERED ❤️‍🩹🚒🇺🇸

Supporting and honoring our First Responders has become an important part of who we are, both on and off the racetrack. That also means honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Ten years ago today, the Wilmington Fire Department and IAFF Local 1590 suffered a heartbreaking loss when Captain Christopher Leach, Lieutenant Jerry Fickes, and Lieutenant Ardythe Hope lost their lives as a result of the Lakeview Road fire.

Behind every badge is a person... a family member, friend, coworker, and someone who answered the call to serve their community. Their sacrifice is a powerful reminder of the risks our First Responders take every day and the families who stand behind them.

Our hearts are with the families of these three heroes, their brothers and sisters of Local 1590 and the Wilmington Fire Department, and all those whose lives were forever touched by Chris, Jerry, and Ardythe.

There’s something almost impossible to explain about the friendships made at a racetrack.

These kids don’t sit together at school.
They don’t see each other Monday through Friday.
They don’t get to spend every afternoon together.

Sometimes they go an entire week without seeing their best friend.

And yet, somehow, these can become the deepest friendships of their childhood.

Because racing gives them something different.

They grow up together in the pits.
They grow up watching each other chase dreams.
They learn to celebrate each other’s victories and hurt together through the losses.

And when the helmets go on, they become competitors.

For those few minutes, nothing else matters.

They race hard.
They fight for every position.
They want to beat each other.

But what happens on the track stays on the track.

Because the moment the helmets come off and they climb out of those cars…

they're just kids again.

Best friends.

Ready to go watch the next race.
Ready to go play.
Ready to grab some food.
Ready to find the next adventure.

The competition disappears almost as quickly as the engines quiet down.

And maybe that's what makes these friendships so beautiful.

They are learning that you can compete fiercely with someone without loving them any less.

You can want to beat your best friend and still be the first person cheering when they win.

You can be disappointed in your own night and still run across the pits to hug the kid who had a better one.

They don't need to see each other every day to know exactly where they belong.

Because somewhere between the pit stalls, the bleachers, the late nights and the long drives home…

they found their people.

One day, these kids will grow up.

The cars will get bigger.
The tracks will get farther away.
Life will get busier.

But I hope they never forget these nights.

The nights when their whole world was a race car, a handful of friends, and whatever adventure came next.

Because they aren't just growing up racing together.

They're growing up together.

And that's a friendship that doesn't need five days a week to stay strong.

It just needs the next race.

🏁 RACE RECAP | 9.19.26 🏁

It felt GOOD to be back behind the wheel! After some time away, Davy climbed back in both cars and reminded us just how much heart and determination he has. 💪

🏆 WINGED 125 — FEATURE WIN #9!

🔥 Heat: Started P5 ➡️ Finished P3
🔄 Invert: 4
🏁 Feature: Started P2 ➡️ FINISHED P1! 🏆

Only four cars took the green for the feature, and unfortunately two dropped out right at the start, leaving just two cars on track. After just a few more laps, the leader pulled in, leaving Davy as the only car running to take his 9th feature win of the season! 🏆9️⃣

Definitely never the way we want to take a win, we'd much rather battle it out to the checkered, but a win is a win, and we'll take #9! 🏆

Davy was holding his own early in the feature until his right rear was run over, bringing out a caution.

After getting back underway and running P6, another incident happened several cars ahead of him. With nowhere to go, Davy got into the back of another car and ran over their tire, but somehow kept it going.

From that point on, we could tell something wasn't right. The car became extremely tight, and Davy was signaling that he was having an issue with the steering.

What we didn't realize until he came off the track was that he had lost the power steering.

He wrestled that 600 around the track for lap after lap with no power steering and still brought it home in P10. When he climbed out, he was absolutely drenched in sweat from fighting the wheel.

After everything he's been through over the past month, we couldn't be more proud of him. ❤️

A 9th Winged 125 win and a hard-fought 600 finish made for one heck of a return to racing.

Sometimes the finishing position doesn't tell the whole story.
Last night, we're most proud of the fight behind it. 💪🏁

🏁 A LITTLE DK Motorsports LLC UPDATE 🏁

🤙 We apologize for being a little MIA and not posting as much this past month. David has been recovering from a racing incident that happened a little over a month ago.

It was truly a freak accident and nobody’s fault, just one of those unfortunate things that can happen in racing.

David took a hard, head-on impact into the wall that caused his knee to hit the dash of the car.

We’ve taken the past month to give him some time to rest, heal, and recover. ❤️‍🩹

👌With the okay from his doctor and a little physical therapy still ahead of him, David is doing well, in good spirits, and ready to get back behind the wheel! 🏁💪

We appreciate everyone who has checked in, asked where he has been and continued to support David and DK Motorsports while we’ve been quiet.

🔥 We’re ready to get back to racing!

We’ll see everyone Saturday, September 19th at Airport Speedway ! 🏁❤️

💙🚔 THANK A POLICE OFFICER DAY 🚔💙

Today we take a moment to recognize the men and women behind the badge.

To ALL branches of law enforcement ....local, county, state, and federal.

THANK YOU for choosing a life of service. Thank you for the long hours, the missed holidays and family moments, the sacrifices most people never see, and for being there when someone is having their worst day.

Our appreciation for law enforcement is something we carry with us both on and off the track. 💙

And today, as we thank those who continue to serve, we also remember those who are no longer here.

Cpl. Matthew “Ty” Snook will forever hold a special place in our racing family. His name, his story, and his legacy are something we are incredibly proud to carry with us. 💙🖤

Today we thank those still answering the call, honor those who came before them, and remember those who gave more than should ever be asked.

To every officer.... we see you, we appreciate you, and we thank you. 💙
