Client spotlight📣📣

Cash is having a nice off season so far! He’s entering his eighth grade year at Richview where he plays middle infield for the Cowboys.

First video, you’ll see Cash hitting a new PR for our clean complex this month. 1 clean pull + 1 clean. 120lbs with this kind of form at his age is phenomenal.

Second video was from last week where Cash hit another PR. We had tempo back squats this month. We program different tempos but this past month it’s been a 3 count negative, 1 count pause and then up as fast as you can.

Outside of jumping and bounding these two lifts are staples in our program for developing lower body power and strength.

Cash is an absolute joy to have at CSP. He gives his best effort every time he steps in the doors. Something that doesn’t get enough praise is his ability to be a mentor to the other athletes that are a few stages behind him.

Keep stacking days, CASHAROONY!

MORE ON HOW WE MODIFY

Donna had rotator cuff surgery about a year ago and it was not really a successful surgery. SO, with that being said there are some things we do and don’t do based on her shoulder mobility and/or discomfort level.

Today instead of doing cleans, Donna had seated jumps. This is just one way we modify and check a similar box that the cleans check. Are they completely transferable movements? No, but do they both require you to produce force rapidly and then absorb that force ? Yes.

In this second clip you will see Donna doing a dual KB front squat. The workout called for Pause Barbell Front Squat, but again her shoulder doesn’t like that position very much at all. So why force a round peg into a square hole?

Donna does a great job at exploding up out of the bottom of her squat. If you want to get the most out of your lifts, be like Donna and try your best to be explosive through the concentric phase of your lifts. This is especially important for your bigger compound lifts (squats, deadlifts, Presses, Rows, Lunges, Step Ups
the list goes on 😂)

Happy Friday, Peeps!

Drop us a DM if you have any questions on how to modify around limitations or injuries you may have!

THE CLEAN. We love using this movement for a lot of reasons but power development is at the top of that list. In this first clip you’ll see Jim executing a low hang power clean + a power clean. Jim’s been doing cleans for roughly 8 weeks. The progress has been fun to see!

In clip two, you’ll see Jennifer learning the hang muscle clean. This was her first day learning this movement and she crushed it. A muscle clean is a less dynamic, less polished way to do a clean but get through really similar positions. This is where we start most of our clients when learning a clean.

The clean can be intimidating to teach and that’s honestly why it’s not in a lot of programs. But if you take your clients through the right progression the results can be fantastic. Jim lifts trailers and lawn mowers constantly, he’s said since he started doing cleans he can lift the mowers and trailers on his own now. That’s an amazing win.

When Jennifer first came to us she couldn’t even lay down on a flat bench without severe back pain. Fast forward about a month and a half and now she’s doing a clean variation pain free.

People are capable of incredible things if you set them up well.

Awesome work, Jim and Jennifer!
