With heavy heart one of my dear friends for 35 years passed away !! He was known as Buddha ! My father actually gave him that nick name 30 years ago ! His name was Chris Luna !
He was one of the oldest vendors/ friends I knew at Frank and Son’s where I grew up and it became my full time profession.
I’ve known Buddha since I was 10 years old. His health wasn’t the best and sometimes we would give him a hard time but at the end of the day we always had his back and he had so many people that really cared about him and loved him.
We were all a tight group. All of us were all friends, and we all knew each other for so many years. It was almost like we were our own family.
Chris and I were also big wrestling fans, big sports fans, sports card collectors, so we had so much in common.
I remember meeting Chris when I was 10 years old back in 1991.
I would see him every weekend. I would also see him at wrestling shows all the time as a kid. He was friends with my father and my whole family got to know him.
I remember in 2012 when I first started doing my Wrestling signings we partnered up and we had Ric Flair. He was so happy and so excited, that was one of his most happiest days I remember.
I remember going to baseball games with him going to Wrestling events.
He was such a big Wrestling fan. His two favorite wrestlers were Ric Flair and Randy Orton. I would remember at the Show or wherever we were at he would always ask everybody who’s their favorite wrestler. He would go on and on and tell them how much Ric Flair and Randy Orton were the best, how good they were.
He was also Toronto Blue Jays fan and I was a Yankee fan. So I remember we would rip each other so much last year but we had so much fun doing it.
And as you can see Chris love to talk about food, just like me. He would love to talk about all the great places we would go eat out. He would love to take pictures of the food. He would take pictures of the food and when we were at the shows, he would love to show the customers, but that was him just being him.
Even when I moved out to Las Vegas in 2006 me and him had some amazing stories and had some amazing times out there together. We did things and saw things you thought were made up. We had so many funny and good memories together.
The last picture in this post is one of my favorite pictures because it was one of the best nights all of us had together. I remember at his house we all would play poker. We would all talk smack to each other, but we were all such a tight group.
It’s very hard for me to post this cause I am gonna miss him because he was like a brother to me. I never wanna say goodbye but I do want to say I will see you again ! I know this may sound selfish, but he’s not suffering and he’s not in pain anymore.
May he rest in peace!
