The Bengals appear to have big plans for rookie edge rusher Cashius Howell.
Cincinnati held Howell out of its second preseason game, essentially treating him like a key starter while Shemar Stewart remains sidelined.
“He’s got a ton of reps over the last couple of weeks. We just held him out,” Zac Taylor said.
Howell has already been heavily involved in the defensive rotation during camp, and all signs point toward the rookie having an important role immediately.

PFF ranked all 32 NFL receiving corps entering the 2026 season, with the Cincinnati Bengals coming in at No. 3.
Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins remain one of the NFL’s premier receiving duos. Since entering the league, Chase leads all NFL players in both receiving yards and receiving touchdowns, while Higgins posted a career-high 114.7 passer rating when targeted last season.
The biggest question is the proven depth behind them, but with Chase and Higgins leading the way, Cincinnati remains firmly among the NFL’s elite receiving groups.
