A Historic Bridge Between Centuries

The lineage that survived three centuries of blood oath, political persecution, and deliberate concealment required a modern bridge to cross from underground transmission into documented history. That bridge was built by Grandmaster Benny Meng. A 73rd-generation descendant of Mencius, Grandmaster Meng inherited a scholarly predisposition toward the study of reality and the nature of things. His lifelong pursuit of truth led him to conclude that nowhere is reality more intense and unforgiving than in the study of human combat.

From Research to Revelation

In 1993, at the suggestion of Sifu Moy Yat, Meng founded the Ving Tsun Museum (VTM) with a clear mandate: to study the art itself, not any single teacher or lineage. Over three decades, he and his research team logged more than three million travel miles, conducted private interviews with over thirty Grandmasters across ten major lineages, and published thirty-five major articles and six books. His work was never about ego — it was about fidelity to truth.

This sustained inquiry led to bringing back and discovery of the 375 years of Wing Chun history, parts and evolutions to one cohesive system:
The identification of two previously hidden secret society lineages — the Red Flag (revolutionary/military efficiency) and Black Flag (clandestine/underworld preservation).
The synthesis of decades of cross-lineage research and Shaolin Temple study into a historically coherent reconstruction of Wing Chun’s original combat


The Birth of Shaolin Wing Chun

From this synthesis emerged Shaolin Wing Chun (SWC) — a documented reconstruction of the system’s original combat science, defined by the Red Flag’s battlefield efficiency and the Black Flag’s clandestine preservation. Grandmaster Meng effectively reunited the fragmented branches of Wing Chun’s secret-society heritage.

SWC is officially recognized as a distinct lineage by both the Northern and Southern Shaolin Temples and the International Wushu Federation. In 2019, Meng was awarded 8th Degree Grandmaster ranking by the International Kuoshu Federation, and in 2025, he was recognized as a Certified 7th Degree Black Sash by the United States Wushu Kungfu Federation. His work transformed Wing Chun from fragmented folklore into a globally recognized competitive division, culminating in the 2024 World Championships at the Southern Shaolin Temple — the first since its founding.

The August 11th Summit: A Living Bridge

In August 2026, the Shaolin Wing Chun Discipleship, High-Ranking Promotion, and International Instructor Training Summit marked a new epoch in the lineage’s living history.

The Tea Ceremony of Discipleship affirmed the sacred bond between master and disciple.
The High-Ranking Promotion and Certification Ceremony honored those whose mastery and conduct exemplified the Shaolin Wing Chun tradition’s discipline and integrity.
The Instructor Training Summit advanced pedagogy, lineage preservation, and the scientific principles of combat structure and spatial-temporal awareness.
This weekend stands recorded as the moment when Shaolin Wing Chun crossed from oral tradition into verified documentation — ensuring that future generations inherit not only the techniques but the truth behind them. This was the largest discipleship and high-ranking group since 2015, when the Shaolin Wing Chun was united under one system.

The Living Lineage: Generations Ten to Thirteen

Simo Sunmi P. Meng, Grandmaster Meng’s wife, is recognized as part of the 10th Generation; her insight and wisdom are instrumental in the ongoing research, synthesis, and daily operation of the Shaolin Wing Chun lineage worldwide.

The transmission of Shaolin Wing Chun continues through deliberate teaching, disciplined practice, and institutional preservation. Generations Eleven, Twelve, and Thirteen carry the lineage forward across continents, maintaining the scientific rigor, historical awareness, and combat pragmatism that define the Shaolin Wing Chun tradition.

The Shaolin Wing Chun Discipleship and Instructor Training Summit formally recognized new disciples, advanced senior practitioners, and certified instructors who demonstrated exceptional discipline, technical skill, and commitment to the Shaolin Wing Chun tradition’s scientific rigor.



I. Summer Instructor Training Summit

The Summer Instructor Training Summit concluded with outstanding success, demonstrating exceptional growth in both quality and quantity across all training divisions. This year’s summit delivered a comprehensive and technically rich training experience, reflecting the continued evolution of Shaolin Wing Chun’s global instructor corps.

Dragon Teaching – Internal & External Triad Foundations

Grandmaster Benny Meng led an in‑depth exploration into the roots and reasons behind the creation of the internal and external Triad systems. This session provided instructors with a deeper understanding of the historical forces, structural logic, and cultural dynamics that shaped the Triad organizations and their connection to Wing Chun’s secret‑society heritage. The Dragon teachings strengthened the intellectual and philosophical foundation required for high‑level instructor development.

Tiger Training – Combat, Weapons & Black Sash Skills

The Tiger portion of the summit focused on hands‑on combat development, including:

Weapons applications: knives and pole rooted in battlefield efficiency
Wing Chun fighting applications emphasizing Chi Sau actual applications with timing, structure, and spatial control. Also, the combined empty-hand and knife applications.
Black Sash Earth skills, refining the physical, tactical, and mental attributes required for advanced practitioners for the upgraded Earth requirements.
These sessions delivered intense, high‑level training designed to elevate instructor capability and reinforce the combat science that defines Shaolin Wing Chun.

International Collaboration & Extended Training

The summit was further enriched by an international team visit led by Sifu Rick’s Taiwan team, who participated in an extensive eight‑day training immersion. Their presence brought global unity, cultural exchange, and elevated technical refinement to the event, marking this summer’s summit as one of the most dynamic in recent years.
