Great advice!!

šŸ To any parent worried about the level of your child’s team this year…

Take a deep breath.

Does your child love volleyball?

If they truly love the sport, then everything is going to be okay.

One thing I hope every sports parent remembers is this: you don’t control the team. Let the coach coach. Let the players learn. Let your child experience the highs and lows of a season without carrying the weight of a parent’s negativity.

I know that’s hard. We all want the best for our kids. We hate seeing them disappointed, and sometimes we want to fix what we can’t control.

But here’s the reality…

If your child is on a good team with a good coach, they will face adversity. They won’t win every tournament. They won’t dominate every match. Great coaches challenge their teams because that’s where growth happens.

When your child walks off the court after a tough loss, don’t feel like you have to fix everything.

Just listen.

If you have something to say, make it encouraging. Talk about the amazing digs, the hustle plays, the great serves, the moments they battled through. Remind them that one loss doesn’t define an entire tournament or season.

And please…

Don’t get in the car and tell your child they were the only one who played well and that everyone else lost the game.

Volleyball is the ultimate team sport. Every player has great moments and tough moments—including your own child. Blaming teammates only creates division and teaches the wrong lesson.

At the end of the season, if you truly believe the team or coaching wasn’t the right fit, then make a different decision for next year.

But during the season…

Choose to be positive.

Choose to cheer for every player.

Choose to support the coach.

Choose to encourage your child instead of feeding frustration.

Be the parent your child can’t wait to look up and see in the stands.

Those are the parents who make youth sports better.
