Meet Stephan Casurella, the new Music Director of Collegium Cincinnati.

An organist, conductor, and composer, Stephan earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in both piano performance and music composition and was awarded a doctor of musical arts degree in church music (organ emphasis) from the University of Kansas. He currently serves as Canon Precentor and Director of Music at Christ Church Cathedral in Cincinnati where, in addition to overseeing all aspects of liturgy and music for the Cathedral’s rich liturgical life, he conducts the Cathedral Choir, shares organ playing duties, and curates a busy concert schedule. As a composer, he has written for a wide range of media with a particular focus on sacred choral works and is represented in the catalogs of five publishers. Stephan is also an adjunct instructor at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.

Because of our long association with Christ Church Cathedral as ensemble-in-residence and our deep professional relationship with Stephan, who has both performed with us and served as guest conductor, it made perfect sense to take this opportunity to formalize and solidify our relationship moving forward. This will be a seamless transition for our organization and we look forward to our audience enjoying Stephan’s fresh perspective on programming, while holding strong to our dual mission of choral and instrumental repertoire.

Under Stephan’s leadership, Collegium Cincinnati will continue to be a vibrant musical organization serving Greater Cincinnati, presenting engaging, enlightening, and inspiring programs that include traditional favorites like the annual performance of Handel’s Messiah, along with new masterpieces by modern composers. The Collegium musicians are the finest in the region and come from our own community. Together with the support of our patrons, Collegium will continue to enrich the Queen City and continue its rich and storied musical heritage.

Stay tuned for details about Collegium’s 2026-27 season! We look forward to seeing you at our concerts!
