May her memory be a blessing. ❤

PJ Library and the Harold Grinspoon Foundation team are sad to learn of the passing of musician, philanthropist, and American legend Dolly Parton. Dolly's Imagination Library helped inspire Harold Grinspoon to found PJ Library in 2005.

When Harold had the privilege of chatting with Dolly in 2023, she shared the following with him: "I am honored to get to help inspire a love of reading in children. They truly are our future."

Harold remembers Dolly as "a truly amazing person--not only a great artist, but a great entrepreneur and philanthropist. We honor Dolly for educating millions, for her remarkable career, her kindness, her art, and especially her generosity."

Listen to some great music and read a beautiful storybook today in her memory. We send our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and fans. May her memory be a blessing.

Mazel Tov to JCC member, Myer, on winning a bronze medal at the Maccabiah Games in Israel!

We sent Myer McKee to Israel with a Cincy Journeys grant, and he came back with a bronze medal!

Myer captained the USA U-17 Futsal team at the Maccabiah Games, playing alongside Jewish athletes from around the world. Getting there took months of drills and conditioning, the same routine over and over until it became second nature.

"Representing Team USA and competing in Israel alongside Jewish athletes from around the world was an unforgettable experience," Myer said. "A huge thank you to Cincy Journeys for helping sponsor my journey and making this possible."

This is exactly why Cincy Journeys exists: so a Cincinnati kid can chase a dream all the way to Israel, and come home with a medal around his neck.

Mazel tov, Myer. We're so proud of you!

There's something about this place:

As the daughter of a JCC president and board member, Stephanie Fries grew up at the JCC. From preschool on Roselawn to Camp at the J, Fries describes herself as “a child of the J” and never imagined her life without it. When Leah Wise moved in next door, the two quickly became friends, and Fries invited Wise to come to the J with her. Read more about the community Wise found here at the JCC following the link in our comments. 👇

"You've got to do something for the kids." That is how Les Sandler explains why he, Renee, and his son Jonah gave through Federation to help build Israel's first true baseball stadium, in Bet Shemesh.

Their idea is simple: give a kid a team, a routine, and mental health support after years of war, a place to belong again.

The connection between Cincinnati and Israel Baseball is closer than you think. Hear from the coaches of Israel's national team and learn more about how to support this growing bond on Thursday, July 16, at the Mayerson JCC. Details in the comments!
