A little peek at what we’ve been working on in Oz… ✨

Creating a brand-new ballet means trying things we’ve never done before. New choreography. New challenges. New skills. And moments like this—when our dancers accomplish a new lift and realize just how much they’re capable of.

We’re incredibly grateful for the opportunity to push the limits, grow as artists and create The Land of Oz from the ground up. And we need our community behind us to make it happen.

So… what exactly IS a Barn Bash?

Think of it as a big fall night out for the whole Chico community — with an Oz twist!

On September 26 from 4–8 PM, we’re taking over The Barn at Meriam Park for an evening of live music, line dancing, great food and drinks, games and activities, character meet-and-greets, silent and live auctions, and plenty of surprises along the way.

Then, grab a spot and settle in for an outdoor showing of The Wizard of Oz and a Wicked sing-a-long to end the night!

The best part? Every ticket helps support Chico Community Ballet and the creation of our brand-new full-length ballet, The Land of Oz, coming to Laxson Auditorium January 29–31.

Come for an hour or stay all evening. Bring the kids, grab some friends, and make a night of it.

Shoulder sits were the challenge of the day in pas de deux class!

For some dancers, today brought that exciting first successful shoulder sit. Others are starting to really master the skill, while some made huge progress toward getting there. Every dancer met the challenge exactly where they were, and it was so much fun watching the confidence build throughout class.

Pas de deux is all about learning to trust your partner, understand the mechanics, and keep working even when a skill takes time. There were lots of laughs, lots of determination, and some very exciting moments today!
