You canāt fake this kind of respect.
After winning Super Bowl XX, the Bears carried Mike Ditka off the field on their shoulders.
Nearly 40 years later, Bears fans are still debating where he ranks among the greatest coaches in NFL history.
One question:
Is Mike Ditka the greatest coach in Chicago sports history?
Why or why not?

Brian Urlacher just said what a lot of Illinois residents have been thinking.
The Bears Hall of Famer questioned how Illinois leaders could spend billions on illegal immigrants while one of the NFLās founding franchises is actively advancing plans for a stadium in Indiana.
Urlacher said:
āThatās like $2.5 to $3 billion that theyāve spent on illegal immigrants. That money could be trying to keep their stadium in town instead.ā
Agree or disagree, thatās how Brian Urlacher sees it.
Hereās the question:
The Chicago Bears have called Illinois home for more than 100 years.
If Illinois can spend billions of dollars on people who just illegally ļæ¼arrived here, why wasnāt keeping a franchise thatās been part of this stateās identity for over a century a bigger priority?
How do you explain that?
At some point, leadership has to be judged by results.
Mike Ditka always believed in accountability.
Brian Urlacher is asking for the same thing.
Do you agree with Urlacher?

Mike Ditka never cared about excuses.
Not from players.
Not from coaches.
Not from owners.
You either got the job done or you didnāt.
Thatās why Chicago still respects him.
Forty years later, his attitude is still missing from todayās game.
Whatās the first word that comes to mind when you think of Mike Ditka?

The Chicago Bears have been part of Illinois for more than a century.
Now the Bears are advancing plans for a stadium in Hammond, Indiana.
Think about that.
Weāve watched major companies leave.
Weāve watched jobs leave.
Weāve watched families leave.
Now one of the founding franchises of the NFL is looking across the state line.
At some point, leadership has to be judged by results.
If Illinois canāt keep the Chicago Bears, what does that say about the direction of our city and state?
The Bears belong in Illinois.
Agree or disagree?
Bear Down.

The Chicago Bears are Chicago.
Now weāre hearing serious talk about them leaving Illinois.
Weāve already watched Caterpillar. Boeing. Tyson.
How many more icons are we going to lose?
If Chicago canāt keep one of the founding franchises of the NFL here, what does that say?
This isnāt just football. Itās identity. Itās history. Itās leadership.
The Bears belong in Illinois. Period.
Are we fighting to keep them, or are we going to let another piece of Chicago walk away?
Bear Down.

Yesterday we watched two teams play for a title.
Ex*****on. Discipline. Protection. Defense when it mattered.
Now the real question.
How far are the Bears from that level?
Be honest.

Today we honor the birthday of George āPapa Bearā Halas. Born February 2, 1895.
Founder of the Chicago Bears. Co-founder of the NFL. He didnāt just build a team. He built a standard. Toughness, defense, pride, and loyalty to this city.
Mike Ditka carried that standard forward. Different eras, same backbone.
This is Bears football. Then. Now. Always.
