As we near our 28th Annual Dan McGinnis Jr. Pioneer Wrestling Golf Outing, we wanted to recognize the integral name behind the event.

Dan McGinnis — Alleman Class of 1980

Dan was a standout wrestler at Alleman, finishing his senior season with a 25-5 record and placing 4th at the 1980 IHSA State Tournament at 119 pounds, competing in the big school division (2A).

He continued his wrestling career at SIU-Edwardsville, becoming an NCAA Division II All-American in 1985 with an 8th-place finish at 158 pounds. That season, Dan was also a critical piece to SIUE’s NCAA Division II National Championship Team.

Mr. McGinnis later spent 10 years coaching at Edwardsville High School, continuing his involvement in the sport well beyond his own competitive career.

We’re proud to have our Golf Outing named after a man such as Dan. We look forward to honoring his name on Sept 13, as well as many years to come.

Jordan has been a huge leader for our program, demonstrating what we want our Pioneers to embody. Hitting the weight room, getting on the mat every chance he can, attending open mats, camps, Bees Wrestling Club, Young Guns Wrestling Club practices, along with competing at local tournaments, Greco State, Freestyle State, 2nd Chance National Team Qualifier (🥈), and Midwest Nationals.

His attitude, discipline, and eagerness to improve is what strikes us the most. As a true leader, be on the lookout for this guy’s season ahead. ❇️

We know that some families are still undecided where to send their sons and daughters for the 2026-2027 school year.
