My client unlocked the Handstand Push Up by building a more capable body.
We stopped treating his banana handstand like bad form and started treating it as the position his body had access to. Then we built the strength, mobility, and control to expand those options.
That’s what good coaching looks like.
Build the body first.
The skills become a reflection of what you’ve built.
If you’re tired of feeling stuck chasing perfect form, send me a message and let’s build a plan that fits your body.
Remember what got you interested in handstands in the first place?
It probably wasn’t the idea of squeezing your ribs harder or obsessing over being tied down to arbitrary rules.
It was because balancing on your hands looked fun.
Somewhere along the way, a lot of people stop exploring and start judging every attempt.
Every fall feels like failure instead of feedback.
Every imperfect handstand feels “wrong.”
But that’s not how skills are learned.
The goal isn’t to force a shape your body can’t yet support.
The goal is to enjoy the process of becoming stronger, more mobile, and more aware.
The funny thing is, when training becomes enjoyable again, progress tends to follow.
If you’ve been stuck chasing the same handstand for months, send me a message. I’d be happy to chat and see if I can help.
Form is a form of progressive overload.
It’s not about good form vs bad form, but about changing your body position to add more or less load on the muscle.
A subtle change in how you planche the shoulders, extend the legs, position your elbows can be the difference between adding “weight” and reducing “weight”.
This is why calisthenics is complex - there are so many factors that influence load and people struggle to find find appropriate progression when they subscribe to dogma.
If you’re struggling to find the right progression, shoot me a message with what tithe struggling with and I’ll see if I can help.
