⭐️ GRATEFUL ⭐️
I am so grateful for my parents for introducing me to figure skating and hockey. It is because of them that I am able to do what I love day in and day out.
From a young age, I was never forced to be on the ice. I remember being just shy of my 6th birthday skating at the Hamden rink telling myself, “if you don’t land your axel, you can’t go to the competition in Lake Placid.”
I remember watching the Yale Mens Ice Hockey team saying, “I want to play hockey. It would be so cool to skate fast and hit people.” 😂
Now, today, I am able to coach both figure skaters and hockey players (skating technique) with the same passion for being on the ice that has never left my soul. It means the world to me being able to call my mom and ask her opinion on this or that or having her come watch my students just as my grandparents did. I wish more than anything that my father was still here so I could seek his advice with my hockey students.
To my parents, thank you! 🙏

Pictured is my mother with her “Precision” Skating Team, The Figurettes. She pioneered what is now synchronized skating in the state of CT. Her teams won the Eastern Sectional and National Championships. She even wrote some of the original rules in the USFSA rule book.
