Telling them to have fun only makes it worse.
Instead…
Creating habits and rituals is what’s going to help them.

A very common concern…
When joined the Between The Points Mastery program he was focused on his results so much that it caused him to play tight and not to his full ability.
After a few months working together and incorporating the tennis specific tools to help him start playing free of the score and pressure of the outcome he’s since been able to play his best tennis.
Ryu was hesitant at first and when he started to see the results, he became locked in and ready to go every match.
Very excited to see what he’s going to be able to accomplish with his new mental strength.
Congrats to Mom and Dad for taking the big step.
You watch your teen crush it in practice.
They hit forehands like Sabalenka and backhands like Alcarez.
Then they step out on the court during a match and everything falls apart. You wonder what happened and everything you try to tell them doesn’t seem to work.
Let me introduce you to the ideal performance triangle.
1. PO = process over outcome. Rewiring your your teens brain to focus on the things they can control and not the outcome allows them to play free and take the risk necessary to achieve their goals.
2. BFS reset and EPT’s emotional processing tools allows your teen to get past their emotions as quickly as possible so they can focus on what they came to do, play tennis.
3. IFA = improvement focus analysis fuels them for the next match shows them the things that they did well and keep them excited and in the game because the only way to lose is to quit. When your teen becomes improvement focus they get juice from getting better.

Whatever they focus on the bigger it gets.
Ask different questions and get different answers.

When your teen can get curious without blaming themselves or pointing fingers… they can stay in a space of calm and actually find the solution.
Asking for help 🫣 it’s hard. And sometimes we just gotta do it.
He had the skills. He had the work ethic. He had the athleticism.
All he needed was the ideal performance triangle that allowed him to get to his ideal performance state in matches.
The UTR took care of itself.

The loss is not the problem. It’s the perception of what it means to lose is.
Losses happen, then your teen has a choice, will this loss break me or will I use this loss to fuel me.
You can help them with it, you can tell them that you believe that they will figure it out.
Be their example.
When Jaxon and I started working together he had a difficult time coming back, and let it get to his head, and play down with lesser players. In the first month his mom noticed significant impact.
His demeanor and attitude is elevated.
Playing up to his potential.
He’s feeling really confident.
I’m excited to see where Jaxon can go now that he has the mental game tools.
