Your ministry is our mission. We are dedicated to developing resources for liturgical ministers, clergy, the assembly, and all who study the liturgy.

Mission Statement

To promote the liturgical formation "of the faithful and also their active participation in the liturgy both internally and externally, taking into account their age and condition, their way of life, and their stage of religious development" so all the faithful may "become thoroughly imbued with the spirit and power of the liturgy." (Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy 19, 14)

Gabe Huck, director of Liturgy Training Publications (LTP) from 1977 to 2001, passed away on June 30, 2026. Under his guidance LTP became a major Catholic publisher, respected for the quality of both the content and design of its publications.

Gabe’s concern for liturgy was first and foremost the “full, conscious, and active participation” of people in Catholic parishes. He wrote "Liturgy with Style and Grace," which has had three editions over the years, and "The Three Days" on the Triduum liturgies, among other books and countless articles. He originated LTP’s annual resources, including "Workbook for Lectors, Gospel Readers, and Proclaimers of the Word" and "Sourcebook for Sundays, Seasons and Weekdays." He also originated several periodicals (Liturgy 70, 80, and 90 as well as its successors, Environment & Art Letter and Catechumenate), which served their audiences well for their times. He delighted in beautiful books, not just for the sake of their beauty but also for the dignity with which they expressed what they contained thus honoring those who would benefit from their use. He personally oversaw the production of "The Book of the Gospels" and the "Lectionary for Mass," ritual books that reflect LTP’s commitment to quality, noble simplicity, and the nurturing of new artists.

We join our prayers with his family, friends, liturgical colleagues, and all who have been influenced by Gabe’s commitment to “full, conscious, and active participation” in the liturgy.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon him.

We are saddened by the death of Kevin Thornton and join our prayers and grief with those who knew and loved him. Kevin was instrumental in the development of our Hillenbrand Books imprint and edited these titles until his retirement. He found joy and reward in editing books on the beauty of his beloved Catholic faith. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon him.

Throughout the year, readers proclaim and assemblies hear the words of the prophets in the liturgy. Who were they and what made them so urgent? This brief but deep and sympathetic introduction to the prophets will help readers proclaim the prophets’ words with more empathy and understanding. It will fascinate Bible study and Scripture sharing groups, and it will help interested assembly members appreciate more fully the meaning of the prophets’ messages—for their audience and for us.
