A study published in The Lancet Psychiatry tracked 1.2 million people and looked at what exercise actually does for mental health, not in theory, but in lived experience.
People who exercised reported 1.5 fewer days of poor mental health per month. The sessions that showed the greatest benefit were 45 minutes long, done three to five times a week.
What the study also found: more is not always better. Exercising more than three hours a day was associated with worse mental health outcomes than not exercising at all.
Consistency and moderation matter more than volume. That is worth remembering the next time getting started feels like too much.

Alignment of the hip during split-stance or step-up exercises is important for the health of your hip, knee, and spine.
If you have tight hips and you look like the second picture when doing exercises, work to release tight muscles around the joint, and only move at a depth you can control the alignment of the hip.
