The secret to raising elite athletes? It’s not what you think. didn’t start playing lacrosse until middle school. No early specialization. No crazy schedules. Just a love for the game that grew naturally. And guess what? She became one of the best. The evidence is clear: starting kids too early and specializing too soon leads to burnout and injuries. What really matters? Developing movement, skills, and, most importantly, a love for the game. Parents, focus on the things that truly matter: fun, friends, and development. If your kid has the talent and passion, the cream will rise to the top. 💬 What’s your take? Let’s talk about how we can keep kids loving sports for the long run. Reel Credit: , ,
Winning and losing are emphasized way too much at youth levels. But Bryce Harper reminded us that it isn't what matters most. It’s how you play the game and how you treat people. ⚾💙 After losing the World Baseball Classic, Bryce Harper showed the ultimate class by congratulating Venezuela. This moment is a powerful reminder for our young athletes: respect, sportsmanship, and character matter more than the scoreboard. 💬 Tag a coach or parent who needs to share this with their team. Let’s teach our kids the lessons that last a lifetime. 🙌
Another massive youth sports complex is on the way, but at what cost? 🏟️🤔 As a sports medicine physician, I see the impact of these facilities firsthand. While they promise economic growth and more opportunities for tournaments, they also come with steep entry fees, endless travel, and a shift toward a professionalized youth sports culture. More tournaments and year-round sports might sound great, but they’re linked to higher injury es, burnout, and less focus on skill development. These complexes aren’t built for the love of the game, they’re built for profit. We need to rethink the direction of youth sports. Let’s prioritize our kids’ health, development, and joy over profits. 💙 What’s your take? Are these complexes helping or hurting youth sports? Let’s discuss below. ⬇️

Early sports specialization: Is it really the key to success? 🤔 Here’s what the research says: A study of 34,000 elite performers, from athletes to musicians, found that the ones who peaked later in life were rarely the stars of their youth. In fact, 90% of top youth performers didn’t become top adult performers. 😲 Specializing early doesn’t guarantee success. What it does increase? The risk of burnout and injury. 🚫 Let’s focus on helping our kids peak at the right time, stay healthy, and enjoy the journey. Late bloomers often shine the brightest. 🌟 Tag a parent or coach who needs to hear this! 🙌 SOURCE: https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.adt7790
Coaches like this are the real MVPs. 🙌 This martial arts coach isn’t just teaching moves, he’s teaching life. Resilience, emotional strength, and the power to push through tough moments. 💪 As a sports medicine physician, I see firsthand how important it is for kids to have mentors like this. Tough coaching, when done right, builds character and confidence. It’s not about breaking kids down, it’s about lifting them up to be their best selves. This is why I’m so passionate about youth sports. It’s not the overuse, the year-round grind, or the pressure to perform that builds greatness. It’s moments like this. Coaches who care. Kids who grow. Teams that thrive. If you’ve had a coach who changed your life, tag them below. Let’s celebe the ones who make sports more than a game. 🏆 And if you love sports as much as I do, hit that follow button for more insights on keeping kids healthy, thriving, and loving the game. 💙
Pay-to-play is holding back U.S. soccer. ⚽🇺🇸 We’re fresh off a thrilling Men's World Cup, but there’s a major issue keeping Team USA from competing with the world’s best: the pay-for-play system. In the U.S., being one of the best players doesn’t guarantee a spot on a top club team, it often comes down to whether you can afford it. Meanwhile, in Europe, academies prioritize talent over wealth, funding kids who make the team so the best players rise to the top. Until we move away from for-profit club models, we’ll keep falling short on the global stage. 💬 What’s your take? Let’s talk about how we can level the playing field for the next geneion.
