Rode with Theo for a few hours today and I haven't been shy this year in letting him know he'll be missed when he likely sets out on his own path next fall.
He downplayed it, mentioned if he goes to school near the city that he can come back for things like this, etc.
I'm glad he isn't intimidated by the seismic shift ahead and we both acknowledged that change isn't inherently bad (even for the two of us who have a hard time with it). However, looking back just four years and it's a world away for these two.
You can't recapture the past and trying to control the future is a waste of energy. All I can really do is enjoy each ride for as long as each one lasts. Happy today's was a good one.

Best weather in years for Bike the Drive. Rode the whole way with Theo while Red ran the course 1.5 times and caught us at the end. The last pic is after Red ran a few laps to hit 50 miles on the day. I think he might really be taking a liking to this bike thing.

Been thinking a lot about a conversation with Jack B a few weeks ago about dropping the tracking software and taking freer rides because you just... Ride. Not ready to do that yet, but I'm a lot more mindful of going out for a few miles without the expectation to turn that into 15-20. Just over two tonight, party pace. It is not any cooler by the lake this evening.

Red is like a skinny sasquatch. You hear stories he's in these woods, but you never see him.

Well, well after nearly a year of being stubborn, look who decided to wake up today...

When you're asked if you want to go to another ballgame a day after you went to the first one... You say yes. Every time. There's something different about the conversations you have around the season ticket holders, too. They're fully invested in each season - who is coming up in the division, who is falling off, who to watch out for in the east and west. It's like a real time internet thread but with more cursing and occasionally you might get hit with a baseball.

Elvis Night and a crazy game.

Can we have work outside today? Yes. Yes, we can.

Two things. 1) There's an eye catching new road bike that just passed the road test yesterday. This yellow and black Giant (55 mm) was a crazy fun ride yesterday, full Campagnolo group set and definitely a head turner with the colors. 2) While I will die on the hill that "it's the rider, not the bike," I somehow racked up a ton of PR's on the LFT. If it can get my old carcass moving, it'll be even better for a day rider.
