In Remembrance of Rick Flurry

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear friend and longtime Otto Road Shooting Range member, Rick Flurry. Rick was a cherished part of our range community, and his presence, camaraderie, and dedication will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.

Thank you to all who attended the service honoring Rick’s life and military legacy on August 13th at Cheyenne National Cemetery in Cheyenne, Wyoming. We continue to extend our deepest condolences, thoughts, and prayers to Rick's family and loved ones.

Celebrating Rick's Life

We will be holding a Celebration of Life at the range on Saturday, September 12, 2026, starting at 11:00 AM.

We’ll be serving burgers, brats, and hot dogs. Side dishes are welcome if you'd like to bring one! Please join us as we gather to swap stories, remember the good times, and celebrate Rick's memory together.

A service honoring Rick’s life and military legacy will take place this Thursday at 10:00 AM at Cheyenne National Cemetery in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

In addition, a Celebration of Life is currently in the works to be held at the range in September. Specific details regarding the date and time will be announced as soon as they are finalized.

We extend our deepest condolences, thoughts, and prayers to Rick's family and loved ones during this difficult time.

A great Saturday of CMP Action Pistol shooting today at Otto Rd Range. We had 24 registrants and among them some new friends —welcome Coloradans Chris F, Spencer J, Myles and Sara —who made the drive north to shoot action pistol. Thanks for coming and we hope to see you again and join our action pistol community here at the Otto Rd Range. Cheyenne Frontier Days started in earnest today and the temperatures were HOT but a gentle breeze from the south took the edge off. We fired the traditional Bianchi Cup courses of fire The Practical, The Barricade, The Falling Plates and The Moving Target total of 192 rounds fired and a maximum possible score of 1920-192X

Our next match at Otto Rd Range is the 12th annual “Steamboat Challenge” CMP and NRA Action Pistol Regional and State Championship matches on August 14-15 & 16. This match attracts top shooting talent across the USA, The US Army Marksmanship Unit, The US Border Patrol even some shooters from New Zealand and Australia. This months match will be a good practice and preparation for the August 14-15-16 “Steamboat Challenge" CMP and NRA Regional and State Action Pistol Championship at Otto Rd Shooting Range. Course of fire: The Moving Target (48 shots), The Practical (48 shots) The Barricade (48 shots) and The Falling Plates (48 shots) total of 192 shots and a maximum possible score of 1920-192X.

Competitive Divisions: Open, Metallic Sights, Production Optic, production, Open Rimfire, Metallic Rimfire, Production Optic Rimfire and Production Rimfire.

“Steamboat Challenge” — now in its 12th year attracts top action pistol shooting talent from the USA and overseas. The match is open to all skill levels and experience levels with awards and prizes for novices to high masters. Precision Shooting Supply, https://precisionshootingsupp.com/ the exclusive importer and distributor for elite STP Pistols and Spohr Revolvers from Germany, will have a STP 9mm pistol valued at $5,000 on the prize table available through a drawing for a non-sponsored competitor. Also, Hornady donated an "Ammo Plant” progressive reloader valued at $1,500 for the prize table. In addition to all that there will be additional prizes as well as lunch each day. A great weekend of competition and fellowship.

Action Pistoleros and Pistoleras,

Last month we conducted a CMP sanctioned match, this month we will run a NRA sanctioned action pistol match at the Otto Rd Range Saturday, June 20. Match fee is $30, this match is open to everyone and all skill/experience level shooters are invited. Juniors shoot free. Mandatory safety meeting for all competitors is at 0845. NRA Rules apply.
