Luke Heckaman competed in his first Oly meet at the Music City Fit Expo on June 6th. He impressed me with his unshakable focus and dedication to the moment! He nailed 5 out of 6 lift attempts with impeccable precision. We missed our 3rd clean and jerk attempt which would have been a 1 kilo personal best. I am beyond proud of this “Ice Cold” dude! We didn’t podium BUT the event organizer was so impressed with Luke’s technique that she told him to pick anything he wanted on the awards table! She just went on and on about “who is this kid”? And “oh, this kid is LEGIT”! Lookin forward to the next one bud!
If you really want to make the most out of your training sessions, under standing set up and balance in the sn**ch, clean, and the jerk are imperative. Dialing in these non negotiables will drastically improve your performance!

Footwork is the quiet architect of every great lift.
You can have all the strength in the world, but if your feet don’t know where to go, the bar doesn’t care. It’ll drift, crash, or pin you in a position you never meant to be in.
In the sn**ch and clean & jerk, your feet are your steering wheel and your brakes. They dictate balance, timing, and how efficiently you receive the bar. Missed lifts aren’t always about pulling harder… sometimes it’s about landing better.
Think about it:• Are your feet consistent in the pull?• Do they move with intention or just react?• Are you landing in a position you can actually own?
Dial in your footwork and suddenly everything sharpens. The bar path cleans up. The catch feels lighter. Confidence goes up.
Strong legs matter. Fast hips matter.But precise feet? That’s where control lives.
Train your feet like they’re part of of the lift, because they are.
