🚨 Exciting News from Swim the Suck! 🚨

USA Swimming age-group athletes (ages 14+) are eligible to participate in Swim the Suck!
We’ve worked to make this possible because we want to provide young swimmers with the opportunity to gain open water distance experience in preparation for upcoming Olympic qualifying opportunities. We are also hoping to make Chattanooga a host city for a future open water qualifying event.
🏊‍♀️ New this year: USA Swimming athletes can even team up with a parent or a Swim the Suck swimmer to compete in the relay. How much fun would that be?

We officially have USA Swimming sanctioning for Age Group Swimmers 14+(limited spots). We wanted to open up the event for younger swimmers looking to gain some long distance open water experience since the US is hosting the next summer Olympics. Our group the COWS is working on Chattanooga becoming a qualifier swim location. Also, for the Suck, age groupers could do a relay with a USMS parent, too! Now wouldn’t that be fun!

Update: relay registration re-opened after worked out glitch. Registration is underway with more than 50 people signed up so far! We had to pause relay registration for the time being until a kink gets worked out.

2026 Swim the Suck Registration Information

Swim the Suck 2026 USMS Swimmer registration opens on April 7th, 2026 at noon ET. The event date Saturday, October 3, 2026 with the dinner on Friday, October 2nd, 2026.

NOTE: We have not yet received sanctioning from USA Swimming for minors, so are unable to open the slots for swimmers under 18 at this time. Please follow this page and our page for updates.

TRGT is a Chattanooga area land trust that serves as a leader in conservation, actively stewarding over 17,000 acres in the Tennessee River Gorge.
