In 2018 — eight years ago — Coach Daniel was invited to bring a group of Metro players to Malaga for a truly unique opportunity: training and playing alongside a different soccer culture, a rare experience that stretched their game and their perspective. Most of those original players have since graduated, and some have even come full circle, returning to the club as coaches themselves. Now, that same opportunity is passed down to the next generation of Metro players, carrying forward a tradition that’s become part of what makes this club special.

Might not have ended the way we wanted, but as our Executive Director says, “The journey is the reward!” So proud of our 2012 & 2013 Girls Black teams for their performance at in Denver this week! Sadly, both teams lost in the semi finals today, but they showed up for one another and made us proud. Keep your heads held high, ladies!

⭐ 2012 Girls Black – Southeast Regional Champions!

The 2012s delivered a dominant, commanding performance to claim the Regional title and punch their ticket to the National Cup in Denver — joining their already-secured spot at the NPL Finals. That’s 2x on the national stage this summer! 🎉

• 5-1 vs Florida Premier FC 12G ECRL
• 6-0 vs Sporting JAX SA 12G Elite NPL

⭐ 2013 Girls Black – Southeast Regional Runner Ups!

The 2013 Girls battled hard throughout the weekend, finishing as Regional Runner Ups. They’ll carry that momentum into Denver, where they’ll be representing at the NPL National Championship! 💪

Charlotte Metro FC Announces Strategic International Partnership with Cagliari Calcio

Charlotte, NC — Charlotte Metro FC is proud to announce a new strategic partnership with Cagliari Calcio, one of Italy’s historic professional clubs, through the club’s international development program, Cagliari XPlay Club. This partnership marks Cagliari Calcio’s first official collaboration in the United States and represents an exciting new chapter in Charlotte Metro FC’s continued commitment to player and coach development.

Founded in 2013, Charlotte Metro FC has become one of North Carolina’s premier youth soccer organizations, serving hundreds of players annually across approximately 30 competitive teams. Built upon a player-centered philosophy, Charlotte Metro FC’s training methodology emphasizes long-term development, technical mastery, decision-making, creativity, and the development of intelligent players capable of succeeding at every stage of the game.

The club’s development model prioritizes age-appropriate learning environments, structured progression, and individualized player growth, creating pathways that challenge players while fostering confidence, character, and a lifelong passion for the sport.

Through this new partnership, Charlotte Metro FC coaches will receive ongoing education and professional development opportunities directly from Cagliari Calcio’s technical staff, creating valuable opportunities to exchange ideas, share methodology, and further elevate the club’s coaching environment.

Additionally, selected Charlotte Metro FC players will have the opportunity to travel to Sardinia and participate in immersive training experiences at Cagliari Calcio, working alongside Rossoblù players while experiencing firsthand the culture, methodology, and professional standards of an elite European club.

The partnership officially began during the recent Cary Cup, held alongside The Soccer Tournament (TST), where a Charlotte Metro FC Under-14 select team competed under the Cagliari Calcio banner. The team delivered an outstanding performance, advancing all the way to the tournament final.
