He has never once come to my class.
Ten years of teaching yoga, and my husband has not sat in a single one.
People tell me that isn’t support.
He doesn’t like practicing in a group. That’s the whole reason.
I only know that because I asked.
Nobody tells you that rebuilding after 40 comes with a pile of stories you never checked. You expect to change the job, the routine, the way you spend a Tuesday. You don’t expect to find out how many things you decided quietly, about the people closest to you, and never said out loud.
What’s the thing in your house you’ve decided the meaning of and never once asked about?

They told me that if I wanted to be successful I needed a better brand.
They told me I needed to learn how to speak a certain way.
What to say. Which words to use.
None of it was bad advice. That’s why I kept paying for it.
I got so worried about what to say and what to do that I disconnected from the woman who was doing it.
What I don’t say out loud is what it does to you to sit at your own kitchen table and not be contributing. I could take the empty calendar. That part nearly broke me.
This is what rebuilding after 40 costs. You expect to rebuild the business. You don’t expect the last thing you have to put down to be the woman you were trying to become.
I stopped looking for what was missing.
and who am I supposed to be?

One of the most loving things we can do in a marriage is allow the other person to be who they are.
Support doesn’t always look like participation.
Love doesn’t always look like agreement.
And difference doesn’t automatically mean disconnection.
Sometimes the problem isn’t who we married.
It’s how hard we keep trying to turn them into someone else.
Follow along for more conversations about marriage, identity, and rebuilding life after 40.
It never felt like a win, even when I did well.
As long as I did what they needed me to do, as long as I held myself back, even the wins weren’t mine.

I used to believe some people are just lucky. in business, in fitness, in every other area of life.
then I realized most of it comes down to choices, and we all have the same 24 hours.
Changing my choices made me lose weight, build a successful business and be the most peaceful version of myself.

“Don’t exaggerate.”
“Don’t be selfish.”
“You’re only thinking about yourself.”
“You should be grateful for what you have.”
“Stop being dramatic.”
Whose voice is that? Your mom? Your grandma? A teacher?
Whose values did they represent? Did you get to choose those values, or were they placed on you?
Your highest responsibility is your own needs. And after a certain age, above your children’s needs.
It’s worth checking where else in life you’re still carrying other people’s voices above yours.
If that hits home, come hang out with me. I have a lot to share about it.
