Nearly every Pilates student, at some point, says the same thing:
“I think I was holding my breath.”

And honestly, you probably were 🙃
But in Pilates, breathing isn’t just about remembering to inhale so you don’t turn purple. It’s about learning HOW to breathe.

Instead of defaulting to shallow chest breathing, we teach you to expand your breath 360° around your rib cage, coordinate it with movement, and use it to create a deeper connection to your core and pelvic floor.
Breath is one of the easiest things to gloss over in class because you’re already thinking about springs, straps, alignment, and where your feet are supposed to be.

But the more you understand your breath, the more everything else starts to make sense.

We love to teach you why breath matters and how to use it to move better, feel stronger, and get more out of every exercise. 🥰✨❤️

The only thing we’ll ever charge you for is showing up… and technically, that’s just the class. 😅

Everything else ✨ spring changes, modifications, water breaks, and a little complaining is included.

Which “add-on fee” would bankrupt you? 😂👇

We’ve been talking about this a ton as a studio. To create a challenging but accessible class for everyone in the room, regardless of their level.

A well-programmed class keeps everyone working toward the same movement goal - you simply change the entry point.

Take Standing Side Splits on a light spring (we like to start people on a Balanced Body blue springs but offer yellow to clients who may prefer that challenge).

A newer client might focus on finding a stable pelvis, controlling the carriage, and maintaining alignment through a smaller range of motion + supportive spring.

An intermediate client can explore greater range, increased adductor and lateral hip control, and smoother weight transfer.

An advanced client? They don’t necessarily need a “harder” exercise. They need a higher demand for precision. That might mean less spring support (we had some of you do this on NO springs!), a slower tempo, added rotation, or maintaining impeccable alignment while moving through the same pattern. All options can be given!

We love this because no one is singled out, called out, or left feeling unchallenged or confused.

The goal isn’t to make clients do more. It’s to help them do the same movement better than before.

That’s the difference between modifying an exercise and layering an exercise ✨ and it’s one of the most valuable skills you can develop as an instructor!

You know that moment when every cue you’ve ever heard in Pilates suddenly clicks?
Yeah… that’s what this workshop felt like but just so much more applicable to life outside of Pilates. We learned tons.

A huge thank you to Dr. Cora Biese, PT, DPT, PRPC from Onward Charlotte for leading us through the connection between the spine, breath, core, and pelvic floor. Every time Cora joins us, we leave with a deeper understanding of our bodies and we love having her as part of our ongoing health education series 🥰

This workshop covered anatomy, breathing mechanics, spinal movement, neutral spine, and practical exercises you can use both in and out of the studio. Because understanding why movement works is just as important as the movement itself.

✨ And the best part? Our workshops are now FREE for BK members. We can’t wait to keep bringing you more opportunities to learn, move, and feel your best.

See you at the next one. 🤍

There’s no magic pill (iykyk) for a stronger core, by the way. 🥰
No supplement, detox, or quick fix can replace consistent movement.
Progress isn’t about perfection. It’s about showing up.
