*Update, the manager Michael came to talk to me this morning, very nice and professional. He is investigating the incident fully and was extremely apologetic.* Please stay alert! Trust your gut. When staying in hotels, secure your doors, check your surroundings, even take photos of how you left things. If something doesn’t feel right, don’t take a chance. I moved to another room and pushed the sofa in front of the door. Paranoid? Overreactive? I think not…. It’s called street smart. Sophy Hotel, Hyde Park, Chicago… the night manager was sketchy and she told me there were no cameras that she can play back.

🚨 California Just Passed a G***k Sales Ban 🚨

Late Friday Gavin Newsom signed 3 gun bills that will reshape firearm sales and carry rules in California!

1️⃣ AB 1127 — G***k ban (effective Jan 1, 2026):

👉 Bans future commercial sales for G***ks and G***k-style pistols (and clones)

👉 Lawmakers say the language is aimed at pistols that can be converted with commercially available “pistol converters.” Practically: if your carry gun is a G***k platform, new commercial sales in CA could stop Jan. 1, 2026 unless the law is enjoined or changed.

2️⃣ SB 704 — Barrel purchases (effective Jul 1, 2027):

👉 Buying a barrel will require shipment to an FFL and a background check through CA’s system — plus associated fees.

3️⃣ AB 1078 — Gun Limit (parts effective Jan 1, 2026 & Jul 1, 2027):

👉 Creates new “sensitive places” (public transit restrictions) and codifies an out-of-state carry permit path (that goes into effect Jan. 1, 2026).

👉 Also includes a three-guns-per-month purchase limit in some form (goes into effect July 1, 2027).

⚖️ What now? Lawsuits are expected — and fast. We will keep you updated on any new developments.
