Update on the Wednesday storms from the NWS office in Binghamton:
The National Weather Service office in Binghamton, NY conducted an
extensive storm survey this afternoon, confirming 2 distinct
tornado paths embedded within a broad area of wind damage in
general that occurred Wednesday evening September 2, 2026.
An EF2 tornado, with winds up to 115 mph, tracked from about a
mile south of Rose Hill just west of Route 96A, through the Town
of Fayette before ending nearly 2 miles south of Canoga Springs
with a path of roughly 7 miles.
An EF1 tornado, with winds up to 95 mph, began a few miles west-
northwest of Waterloo and tracked into the village before
weakening and ending in Seneca Falls for a path of between 6 and 7
miles.
Severe downburst winds with resultant tree damage also occurred
throughout the responsible line of storms, as evidenced by the 76
mph wind measurement at the Waterloo NY Mesonet site 2 miles
south-southwest of Seneca Falls, between the more enhanced
tornado paths.
I traced to the best of my ability the track of the EF2 Tornado from the write up the nws gave, Its not perfect but gives you an idea of where it was.
