🏆 A BIG DAY FOR LOCAL GOLF — and bragging rights around Wyandot!

Congratulations to the Granville Blue Aces and Johnstown Johnnies on winning their respective LCL Division Championships!

🔴 Johnstown Johnnies — Cardinal Division Champions

The friendly competition around Wyandot has been pretty good this season…

⛳ Stevie Joseph — Granville — First Team LCL
⛳ Keaton Archibald — Johnstown — First Team LCL

Stevie is Andy’s son. Keaton is Kevin’s son. And just to add a little more fuel to the rivalry, Kevin is also the Johnstown boys golf coach.

Two schools. Two divisions. Two championships. Two First Team LCL selections. There should be absolutely no shortage of bragging rights around the Wyandot clubhouse. 😂

Congratulations to both teams, Stevie, Keaton and all the players and coaches on a great LCL season!

🌱 COURSE IMPROVEMENT UPDATE — SLIT SEEDING THURSDAY! ⛳

We’re continuing to work on better playing conditions at Wyandot!

This Thursday, September 17, we’ll be slit seeding our fairways and tee boxes to help establish thicker, healthier turf.

⛳ Thursday leagues will play as normal.
🚫 No open tee times will be available Thursday.
✅ Friday, September 18, we’re back to our normal tee-time schedule.

One important change for the next two weeks: CARTS MUST REMAIN OUT OF THE FAIRWAYS.

Keeping cart traffic off the newly seeded areas gives the seed time to germinate, take hold, and establish successfully. We know it’s a little inconvenient, but a couple weeks of patience now should mean better fairways going forward!

Thanks for helping us protect the new seed while we keep improving Wyandot. 🌱⛳

⛳ Shatter Tine Aeration Report Card: 7/10

One week later, we’re grading our first attempt at shatter tine aeration.

Aeration result: 9/10. The repaired aerator worked great, the solid tines did exactly what we wanted, the greens stayed playable, and a week later you can barely tell we were there.

Efficiency: 5/10. We planned on 1–2 mornings. It took 4. 🤦‍♂️ More dirt came up than expected and constantly cleaning the rollers slowed us WAY down.

Process: 6/10. By Day 4 we finally figured it out: add a third person with a blower.

TINE → BLOW → ROLL. Huge difference.

Golfer impact: 3/10. We tried to keep all 18 holes open while we worked. At one point a league even planted their closest-to-the-pin marker right in the middle of our freshly aerated holes. 😂 Message received.

Next time, we’ll close nine holes at a time, get the work done, reopen them, and move to the other nine.

Overall: 7/10.

The agronomy worked. Our process needed work. And that’s exactly why we keep experimenting, learning and improving.

One week later, the greens look fantastic.
