The Platte River Trail is located along the scenic North Platte River in Casper, Wyoming.

The Platte River Trail is managed by the Platte River Trails Trust, a nonprofit organization with a mission to develop a river pathway while preserving the scenic, natural and historic value of the North Platte River, and to assist with the development of a network of trails that contribute to our community's economic vitality and quality of life.

DogFest is coming September 19th to the Tate Pumphouse – and there's still time to sponsor! 🐾 We’re filling the area with music, food, giveaways, an agility course, activities, prizes and plenty of tail-wagging fun! And we want YOU to be part of it.

Businesses and organizations can get involved by hosting an interactive booth, offering a dog-friendly activity, sharing pet education, donating prizes, or becoming an event sponsor. From dog treats and caricature portraits to senior pup massages and splash zones, the possibilities are endless!

Flat tire? Loose saddle? We got you.🚴‍♂️

We’ve got bike repair stations on the trails to support those pesky breakdowns. With two bike stations along the trails, we help ensure you don’t need to cut your ride short due to stubborn bike repairs. Take note of these handy stations at Crossroads and the Tate Pumphouse during your next ride on the trails.

🚧 Platte River Trail Detour Begins During Poplar Pedestrian Bridge Construction 🚧

Exciting improvements are coming to Casper's trail system! Construction of the new Poplar Street Pedestrian Bridge is now underway, and a section of the Platte River Trail between the Oil Derrick and 1st Street will be closed through early December.

While the temporary closure may require a short detour, the end result will be well worth it. The new bridge will provide a safe, dedicated connection for pedestrians and cyclists across the river, eliminating the need to navigate the busy Poplar Street and 1st Street intersection.

Trail Detour Route (eastbound):
✅ Cross the Newell B. Sargent Bridge south of the Pumphouse
✅ Follow the Platte River Commons Trail east to the intersection of King Blvd/Midwest Ave and Poplar
✅ Cross Poplar St at the marked crosswalk
✅ Continue east in the Casper Rail Trail bike lanes along Midwest Ave to Walnut St
✅ Turn north on Walnut St to the First St underpass
✅ Rejoin the Platte River Trail and continue east

Thank you for your patience as this important project moves forward. We look forward to the safer, more connected trail experience the new Poplar Street Pedestrian Bridge will provide for our community for years to come!
