MORTIFY THE TRANSACTIONS OF THE BODY.

FRIDAY, JULY 10TH.

For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live (Romans 8:13)

There’s a depth to the scripture above that you must understand. When the Apostle Paul speaks of “the deeds of the body,” he’s not merely referring to actions or habits. He’s dealing with something deeper, which is the transactions of the body; the dealings of the body.

The body has its operations. It carries out its activities through the senses—what you feel, what you see, what you experience physically. Through these, it conducts its “business,” bringing reports and conditions into your life. At times, the body “brings” something home; it may be a symptom, a weakness, or a discomfort, something it picked up through natural processes.

But you must understand that you’re not subject to those transactions. You’re not to be regulated by the rudiments of this earthly realm but to live above them. The Bible says, “For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace” (Romans 8:6). To be carnally minded is to live according to the dictates and reports of the body, to respond to what it says and what it feels. But that’s not your life.

You’re called to live by the Spirit. The Word says if through the Spirit, you mortify the deeds of the body, you shall live. That means through the Holy Spirit, you can paralyse those transactions. You can nullify the operations of the body. You can bring its activities under subjection. You don’t let the body dictate your condition or define your reality.

The life in you is greater. It’s the life of God. And that life gives you authority over the body. The Scripture says, “But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you… shall also quicken your mortal bodies…” (Romans 8:11). He gives life to your physical body. He overrides its limitations.

So, when the body brings its report, you answer by the Spirit. When it suggests weakness, you respond with strength. When it presents a condition, you enforce the higher law of the Spirit, the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus, by which you’re governed. Hallelujah! So, take charge and exercise dominion over your body. Keep it in health with the Word of God and the power of the Holy Spirit.

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for the authority I have through the Holy Spirit over my body. I refuse to be governed by the senses; rather, I choose to walk in life, strength and dominion, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

Romans 8:6-10 (KJV)
6 For to be carnally minded [is] death; but to be spiritually minded [is] life and peace.
7 Because the carnal mind [is] enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
10 And if Christ [be] in you, the body [is] dead because of sin; but the Spirit [is] life because of righteousness.

Galatians 5:16 (KJV)
[This] I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

1 Corinthians 9:27 (NKJV)
But I discipline my body and bring [it] into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES.

PASTOR CHRIS.

THE FELLOWSHIP THAT CHANGES EVERYTHING.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 8TH.

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen (2 Corinthians 13:14).

Our opening scripture above is a powerful benediction. It reveals a divine order: the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit. The grace comes from the Lord Jesus. The love is from the Father. But the enjoyment, the living experience of all that God has made available to you, comes through your fellowship with the Holy Spirit.

You may talk about grace and celebrate the love of God. But it’s through the Holy Spirit that these become living realities in your life. He’s the One who brings them into your daily experience and makes them tangible. When you come to know the Holy Spirit, everything changes. There’s a beauty that comes into your life. There’s a colour, a glory, a richness in your walk in righteousness. He empowers you from within.

This Holy Spirit is in you and with you always and forever, not for a season. The Lord Jesus said, “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever” (John 14:16). He’s your teacher. The Bible says, “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost… he shall teach you all things…” (John 14:26). He opens your understanding to the Scriptures that you may know and walk in the calling and blessings of God for your life.

1 Corinthians 2:12 says, “Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.” He anoints your understanding and grants you insight into divine truths and mysteries of the Kingdom. Through Him, your life takes on a higher dimension. You see beyond the natural, you function with clarity, purpose and certainty.

When you know the Holy Spirit, life becomes limitless. You carry an inward assurance of success, not based on circumstances, but on the One who lives in you. Keep building your fellowship with the Spirit. Walk with Him. Talk with Him. Let Him guide you every day and in all things, and you’ll always walk in glory.

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit and the privilege of fellowship with Him. I walk in conscious communion with Him every day, and my life is beautified, guided and empowered by His presence. I live above limitations, expressing your glory in all that I do, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY

John 16:13 (KJV)
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, [that] shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

2 Corinthians 13:14 (AMPC)
The grace (favor and spiritual blessing) of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the presence and fellowship (the communion and sharing together, and participation) in the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen (so be it).

1 Corinthians 2:12 (NIV)

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES.

PASTOR CHRIS.

THERE'S SOMETHING ABOUT YOU.

MONDAY, JULY 6TH.

But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you (Romans 8:11).

Christianity is not a religion; it’s Christ in you (Colossians 1:27). It’s the outworking of the God-life in a human person. The Christian is one who has received and manifests the organic and existential attributes of divinity. That’s what makes you different. You didn’t come into religion when you received Christ. You came into reality.

The Bible says, “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life…” (1 John 5:11-12). This life is the transcendent life. Consider the human body. Even in its present, fallen state, it has the ability to reproduce cells, to repair and restore itself. That is human life, yet that life is corrupted due to the fall of Adam.

If that corrupted life can still function at that level, then think about the life of God in you that’s incorruptible, indestructible and divine! The Bible says, “…being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever” (1 Peter 1:23).

This is what you have now, a life that carries within it the ability to produce and effect changes. The Lord Jesus said, “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you…” (Acts 1:8). That power is the dynamic ability to cause changes. It’s at work in you even now; it’s in your system.

It helps you understand when the Scripture says if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He will vitalize your mortal body (Romans 8:11). He gives life to your physical body. 2 Corinthians 4:7-11 tells us something remarkable; it says, “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed....”

You’re indestructible. You’re a victor forever. You can never be disadvantaged. You have the ability to produce and reproduce success. You carry that power, the genes of excellence within you. It’s for the same reason that the Bible says whatsoever you do, shall prosper (Psalm 1:3).

You must realise and walk in the consciousness of this reality. There’s something about you: something divine and powerful; something that sets you apart from the ordinary. The Bible says, “...greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4). Let this be the mindset that defines your life every day.

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for your life in me, and I’m conscious of its power and work in my spirit, and the ministry of the Holy Ghost in my entire being. The divine life vitalizes my body and produces changes in every area of my life. I walk in dominion, strength and victory, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

2 Corinthians 4:7-11 (NIV)
7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.
8 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair;
9 persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.
10 We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.
11 For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may also be revealed in our mortal body.

1 John 5:11-12 (NIV)
11 And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.

1 Corinthians 6:19 (NIV)
Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;

BUILD YOURSELF IN CHRIST.

FRIDAY, JULY 3RD.

And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified (Acts 20:32).

In our last study, we touched on something very important: You’ve received Christ, yes; but you must continue in Him and be built up in Him. He said in John 8:31, “…If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed.” Spiritual growth is intentional. It doesn’t happen by chance; the responsibility is yours to allow the Word of God to dwell in you richly (Colossians 3:16).

No one can grow for you. No one can build your spirit for you. Your progress in Christ is directly tied to your personal commitment to the Word. You may say, “I’ve read through the entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation”; but reading isn’t enough. Remember the words of the Lord Jesus for us to search the Scriptures; Paul said to study. There’s a difference. Reading informs you, but searching unveils truth, and studying establishes it within you.

Until you move beyond casual reading, you won’t walk in the depth, authority and power of the Word. There’s more in God, so much more. As you give yourself to study, meditation, and the ministry of the Spirit, deeper revelations are unveiled to you. Your convictions become firm, your discernment refined, and your walk with God steady, consistent, and built on truth.

Remember, we win by His Word. You’re sustained by the Word of His grace, which is able to build you up and unveil your inheritance to you. That Word must dwell richly in you, shaping your thoughts, your responses, and your direction. So, don’t be passive about your spiritual growth. 1 Peter 2:2 says, “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby.”

The strength and stability of your Christian life are determined by the depth of the Word in your spirit. You’ve received Christ, that’s powerful; now build yourself in Him. Grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Be established in truth.

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for the Word of your grace that builds me up and establishes me in Christ. I’m strengthened, rooted and grounded in the truth of your Word. My life is structured by your Word, and I walk in ever-increasing grace and glory as the revelation of your Word floods my spirit and strengthens my faith, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY

DON’T LOSE YOUR SALVATION.

THURSDAY, JULY 2ND.

Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall (1 Corinthians 10:12).

Nothing in this world compares to the value of your salvation. Not your accomplishments, not your visions, not your impact; nothing. Your salvation is the very reason for your existence; without it, everything else amounts to nothing. Your main purpose on earth is to secure your salvation and help others find theirs. Once you understand this, you’ll live a fulfilled life.

There’re those who laboured diligently, gave generously, and served fervently, yet lost their salvation because they strayed from the path. You can be engaged, committed, and even celebrated, yet miss the essence. Never let that happen. Your salvation is your most priceless possession; don’t treat it lightly. Refuse to be drawn away.

Some have allowed others to guide them off course, becoming entangled in conflicts they had no business with; defending positions that corrupted their focus and weakened their walk with God. That’s not your path. Stay with the truth. Continue in Christ and guard your heart. The Bible says, “As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving” (Colossians 2:6-7).

Your walk with God is personal. When God called Abraham, He called him alone. In the same way, your accountability to the Lord is a personal one. These are the last days; therefore, don’t let anyone lead you astray, and don’t lead yourself astray either. Be discerning and remain established in the Word.

Receiving Christ is the beginning, not the end. Build yourself up in Him. Give yourself to deep and intense study of the Word. The Lord Jesus said, “Search the Scriptures” (John 5:39). Paul said, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15). As you give yourself to the Word, the Spirit of God unveils deeper truths to you, strengthens your convictions, and keeps you grounded in the truth.

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for the priceless gift of salvation that I’ve received in Christ. I remain steadfast, vigilant and rooted in your Word, refusing to be swayed or led astray by any influence contrary to your truth. I’m built up in Christ, I’m growing in grace and in the knowledge of your Word. Thank you for the grace to lead others into this same glorious life, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.

Philippians 2:12 (KJV)

29 I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock.
30 Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them.

PASTOR CHRIS.

YOUR SPIRIT HAS PERFECT RECALL.

SUNDAY, JUNE 28TH.

But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding (Job 32:8).

Have you ever heard some people say, “When I was much younger, my memory was perfect; I could remember anything. But now I’m sixty, and I don’t remember as much as I used to”? Never talk like that if you’re a Christian, because you don’t remember with your brain. You’ve got to understand this: your memory is not in your brain; it’s in your spirit.

Your spirit has perfect recall; it can recollect anything. The story the Lord Jesus told about Lazarus and a certain rich man in Luke 16:19-31 proves it. The Bible says that when Lazarus died, the angels carried him to Abraham’s bosom. They didn’t carry his body; it was his spirit.

Then the Bible says the rich man also died, was buried, and opened his eyes in hell. His body was in the earth but his spirit was conscious in hell. While in hell, the rich man could see, he could think, and he could recognize Lazarus. He even spoke and made requests. He asked Abraham to send Lazarus to bring him water (Luke 16:24).

That tells you something: his brain had been buried, but he still had his full memory, his full awareness. His spirit remembered. Then Abraham said something remarkable. He said, “…Son, REMEMBER that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented” (Luke 16:25). Think about that. He had been dead, buried and gone to hell; his brain was no more, but he was told to "remember."

That means memory is beyond the brain. It is of the spirit. That’s why you must never say, “I forgot”; get that language out of your communication. The spirit never forgets, and you’re a spirit being. So never say, “I’m quite forgetful these days,” or “My memory is failing.” No. It doesn’t matter how old you are; your spirit doesn’t grow old. It doesn’t deteriorate, and it doesn’t lose capacity. Your spirit is alive, alert and full of divine ability. Live from your spirit and enjoy its perfect recall.

PRAYER

Dear Father, thank you for opening my understanding to the realities and abilities of my spirit. I function from my spirit, and my memory is sound, sharp, and effective. I have a sound memory because my spirit is alive, alert, and has perfect recall in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

Luke 16:19-25 (KJV)
19 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:
20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,
21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

1 Corinthians 2:9-11 (KJV)
9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
