🏌️‍♂️ GOLFERS: Are Your Gym Workouts Hurting Your Golf Game?
At Chris Ownbey’s Golf Fitness, we see golfers every week who are working hard in the gym—but some traditional exercises may not be helping their golf swing.
Two exercises to take a closer look at:
❌ 1. Traditional Barbell Squat
Heavy squatting can be a great strength exercise, but for some golfers it can reinforce stiffness and compression—especially if you already have limited hip, ankle, or thoracic mobility.
❌ 2. Traditional Woodchop
It looks golf-specific because you’re rotating, but repeatedly forcing rotation under resistance doesn’t automatically create a better golf swing. Poor mechanics can reinforce the wrong movement patterns.
Instead, we want to build the mobility, stability, balance and rotational control needed to strike the ball consistently.

GLP-1 Strength Training: Protect Your Muscle While Losing Weight
The Scale Is Only Part of the Story
Let’s be clear: there can be significant health benefits to losing excess body weight.
That’s one reason physicians may focus heavily on the number on the scale and other measurable health markers.
For someone carrying excess body fat, meaningful weight loss may help improve:
* Blood pressure
* Blood sugar and A1C
* Cardiovascular risk factors
* Mobility
* Joint stress
* Sleep apnea and sleep quality in some people
* Overall metabolic health
Those are important wins, and GLP-1 medications can be an effective medical tool for appropriate patients when prescribed and monitored by their healthcare provider.
But I don’t think the conversation should end when the number on the scale goes down.
That’s where Fit Over 40 Dallas® looks at the bigger picture.
Don’t Just Lose Weight. Rebuild Your Body.
If you lose 30 pounds but a significant portion of that loss is lean tissue, we haven’t achieved everything we could have.
Especially after 40, the goal should be bigger than simply becoming lighter.
We want to help you reduce excess body fat while preserving or building muscle, supporting bone health, improving strength, and developing eating habits you can maintain for life.

Lower Back Pain? Try This 4-Part Stretch
If lower back pain or stiffness is making it harder to move, exercise, or enjoy a round of golf, this simple 4-part stretching routine may help improve mobility and reduce tension around your lower back and hips.
As we get older, tight hips, limited mobility, poor posture, repetitive movement, and a lack of strength can all contribute to increased stress on the lower back.
In this video, Chris Ownbey, TPI Certified Golf Fitness Professional in Dallas, TX, takes you through a simple 4-part stretching sequence designed to help:
âś” Improve hip and lower-back mobility
âś” Reduce stiffness and tightness
âś” Improve rotation for the golf swing
âś” Help you move more comfortably
âś” Keep your body performing as you get older
⛳ Golfers Over 40: Is Your Body Holding Back Your Swing?
If you're losing distance, struggling with rotation, dealing with stiffness, or experiencing discomfort after playing, the problem may not just be your golf swing.
Your body may be limiting what your swing can do.
A TPI Golf Fitness Assessment can identify physical limitations in your mobility, flexibility, balance, stability, and strength that may be affecting your golf swing.

🏌️ You Might Be in Shape... But Are You in Golf Shape?
Hit the Ball Farther. Move Better. Play Golf Longer.
Most golfers think their swing is the problem.
So they buy new clubs, book another lesson, or spend hours watching swing videos.
But here's what many golfers never realize...
If your body can't move into the positions your instructor is teaching, your swing will always compensate.
Limited hip mobility. Tight shoulders. Weak glutes. Poor core stability. Loss of balance.
These physical limitations can reduce clubhead speed, decrease consistency, and even increase your risk of injury.
For golfers over 40, improving your body is often the fastest way to improve your golf game.
Find out if your body—not your swing—is holding you back.

https://fitover40dallas.com/why-belly-fat-gets-harder-to.../
One of the biggest frustrations I hear from men and women over 40 is:
“I’m eating less than I used to, but the weight just won’t come off.”
If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone.
The truth is that your body changes as you age, and the strategies that worked in your 20s and 30s often stop producing the same results.
Here’s What’s Happening
As we get older, several factors begin working against us:
We naturally lose muscle mass with age.
Less muscle means your body burns fewer calories throughout the day.
Hormonal changes make it easier to store body fat, especially around the waist.
Stress increases cortisol levels, which can contribute to abdominal fat.
Poor sleep affects hunger hormones, recovery, and metabolism.
These changes don’t mean weight loss is impossible—they simply mean you need a different approach.
The Right System for Losing Belly Fat After 40
The answer isn’t spending hours on the treadmill.
The answer is building and preserving muscle.
Strength training helps:
Increase your resting metabolism
Preserve lean muscle while losing fat
Improve insulin sensitivity
Support healthy hormone function
Create a stronger, leaner body
When you combine strength training with adequate protein, daily walking, quality sleep, and consistent nutrition, your body becomes much more efficient at burning fat.

Why Adults Over 40 Feel Tired All the Time
Feeling tired every day? Learn why adults over 40 lose energy and how strength training can improve metabolism, muscle, sleep, and overall health.
If you’re over 40 and constantly tired, you’re not alone.
Many adults assume fatigue is simply part of getting older.
It isn’t.
More often than not, low energy comes from losing muscle, poor sleep, stress, inactivity, and inadequate nutrition.
Beginning around age 30, adults naturally lose muscle each decade. Less muscle means a slower metabolism, lower energy production, weaker joints, and reduced endurance.
The good news?
Strength training helps reverse much of this decline.
Benefits include:
âś“ Increased energy
âś“ Better sleep
âś“ Improved metabolism
âś“ Reduced joint pain
âś“ Better posture
âś“ Improved balance
âś“ More confidence
At Fit Over 40 Dallas, every workout is designed specifically for adults over 40.
Our private 30-minute sessions combine:
Strength Training

Why Your Can You Build Muscle After 50?
Absolutely.
One of the biggest myths in fitness is that muscle growth stops after age 50. The truth is your body can still build strength and muscle at almost any age when it receives the right stimulus, recovery, nutrition, and coaching.
As a Personal Trainer in Carrollton TX, I’ve worked with many men and women in their 50s, 60s, and 70s who have increased strength, improved mobility, built muscle, and regained confidence through a structured strength-training system.
Why Muscle Matters After 50
Starting around age 30, adults naturally begin to lose muscle mass. This process can speed up after 50 if strength training is not part of your routine.
The good news is that strength training can help slow down and even reverse much of that decline.
Building muscle after 50 can help improve:
âś“ Metabolism
âś“ Energy levels
âś“ Balance and stability
âś“ Bone and joint strength
âś“ Posture
âś“ Fall prevention
âś“ Independence and quality of life
Whether you are looking for Fitness for Men Over 40, want to stay active with your family, improve your golf game, or simply feel stronger in daily life, building muscle should be a priority.
The Secret Is Training With the Right System
Many adults believe they need extreme workouts or hours in the gym to build muscle.
That is rarely true.
In my 35 years of personal training, the most successful clients I’ve worked with follow a simple, consistent approach.
1. Progressive Strength Training
Muscles grow when they are challenged consistently over time.
