From our Director to anyone considering applying to college for dance 👇🏽

Most people miss out on the opportunities and advantages that college has to offer.
When you know where to look, it’s easier to find the good stuff.
We’re REALLY good at finding the good stuff and we’d love to show you.
It’s pretty easy: get accepted, schedule a family interview, THEN decide if it’s the right program for your dancer.

Tomorrow we wrap up our Private Training Session and get ready for the summer ahead.

What happened in this room this week can’t be measured in combinations learned or hours trained.

Just grateful to be surrounded by artists willing to go there. 🙌🏽

Summer grind has officially opened up. Where are you at?!

Studying with the best.

This week marks the start of our 2026 Private Training Session with Matthew Rushing.

Before Matthew steps into the room, our dancers spend time digging into the foundation of the work: choreography, imagination, bravery, and the willingness to make BIG choices.

“This is about cutting a rug and highlighting what makes that possible.”

Because great dancing isn’t just about movement. It’s about the humanity behind it. The stories, experiences, risks, and choices that make an audience feel something.

Then it’s workshop season with Matthew Rushing... one of the most influential artists our field has ever produced... sharing his perspective, process, and wisdom with the next generation.

We’re excited to watch these dancers stretch, grow, and discover more of who they are.

Summer 2026 is officially underway.

The feeling is mutual Kate. We’re going to miss you next year! We mean that in the most awkward, mushiest, tears in eyes kind of way. Be great!

Next week, Matthew Rushing arrives for our 2026 Private Training Session, so it feels like the perfect time to look back at last summer with Adji Cissoko.

One of the things we believe deeply at TDA Prep is that technique is only part of the equation.

Your technique matters.
Your athleticism matters.
Your stamina matters.

But the thing that separates good dancers from unforgettable performers is their ability to reveal who they are, what they care about, and how they experience life, when they step on stage.

Our Private Training Sessions are designed to create that conversation.

They give serious young dancers the opportunity to work in intimate settings with artists whose careers have been built on excellence, honesty, and humanity.

Adji is a master of that work.

Every class, every rehearsal, every conversation challenged dancers to stop performing movement and start communicating something real.

That’s what made the week so special.

And next week, we get to do it all over again with Matthew Rushing, one of the best to ever do it.

WE CAME HERE TO BE GREAT!

A look back at Signing Day for the Class of 2027. This is one of our favorite days of the year.

It’s not the announcements.
It’s not the photos.
It’s not the schools.

This represents something MUCH bigger.

It takes bravery to dream big.

It takes discipline to show up for that dream.

It takes humility AND confidence to bet on yourself.

Every dancer’s path is different. Some dreams lead to professional stages while others lead to opportunities and callings we can’t yet see.

What matters is that these artists had the courage to pursue something meaningful and the character to do the work required to get there.

To every student and family in the Class of 2027, thank you for allowing us to be the guidepost for what greatness looks like during this season.

We’re proud of what you’ve accomplished, but even more excited about who you’re becoming.

Here’s to the next chapter.

our dancers are lucky to experience you as much as they do.

you bring an intensity that challenges them to stay ready, focused, and prepared for the greatness you’ve developed for yourself!

your ability to hold people accountable to the greatness they possess is a gift from above, around, and within. Thank you!

it has been a JOY to have you on the team and your support for the entire team has been top tier!

Here’s to a great season!
We came here to be great!

The dance industry has sold dancers the idea that exhaustion equals growth.

Busy schedules.
Constant travel.
Another convention.
Another competition.
Another “special opportunity.”

And somehow… being overwhelmed became the badge of honor.

But the secret to elite athleticism has never changed.

Do the fundamentals at a HIGH level.
Over and over again.

That’s it.

Most dancers don’t actually need MORE training.
They need more intention.
More awareness.
More detail.

MORE ROOM TO PUSH BACK.

More understanding of what they’re actually doing.

Dancers need to learn HOW to train.
How to approach class like it’s a performance.
How to stay accountable when nobody is watching.
How to be humble enough to improve faster.

That’s the work.

Around these parts, we speak to dancers with the greatness and accountability they dream about for themselves… and they rise to the occasion every single time.

Even the youngest dancers can handle more responsibility when you treat them like artists and athletes instead of babysitting them through class.

Clarify the standard.
Clarify the intention.
Clarify HOW it should be done.

Greatness usually follows.

The goal isn’t to survive the most hours every week.

The goal is to become undeniable.
