Team Canton encountered their first defeat in the fourth of six “8-Ball Travel Tournament” matches when they were up against Ypsilanti 50 & Beyond, bringing their record to 3-1. Thank you to Ypsilanti Township for hosting!

This six-part traveling tournament features teams from Canton, Taylor, Van Buren, and Ypsilanti. Next month, Canton will visit Taylor on Thursday, October 8 at 12 p.m.

Please join Canton Township tomorrow, September 11 for a 9/11 Memorial Ceremony at 9:30 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial in Heritage Park, located directly behind the Canton Administration Building at 1150 S. Canton Township will honor and pay tribute to the victims of 9/11 on the 25th anniversary of one of the darkest days in American history. This special ceremony will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, starting at 9:30 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial in Heritage Park, located directly behind the Canton Administration Building at 1150 S. Canton Center Road.

This memorial ceremony will be led by the Canton Fire and Police Departments and Supervisor Anne Marie Graham-Hudak, who will also be joined by Canton Elected Officials and the Board of Trustees. The ceremony will also feature the Canton Fire Department Honor Guard, a musical tribute by Devyn Mitchell, and a moment of silence. Featured speakers will include Congresswoman Debbie Dingell and State Representative Ranjeev Puri. In addition, representatives of local faith houses and Canton community members will also take to the podium during this special outdoor ceremony.

Canton Club 55+ is hosting a community children’s book drive honoring the life and legacy of Dolly Parton now through September 25, which is known in Tennessee numerically as 9 – 2 – 5 (“9 to 5 Day”) or Dolly Day.

Individuals are encouraged to drop off new children’s books to the Parkview Room in the Summit on the Park, located at 46000 Summit Parkway. Please Note: the Summit on the Park will be closed for its annual shutdown, reopening on Saturday, September 12. Books will be distributed throughout Canton and surrounding communities.
