One More Reason to Dance… 💃🕺

It gives your brain a break.

Work, errands, responsibilities—sometimes your mind just needs something different to focus on.

When you’re dancing, you’re listening to the music, learning something new, moving your body, and concentrating on what’s happening right in front of you. For a little while, everything else gets pushed to the side.

Your problems may still be waiting when the lesson is over—but chances are, you’ll walk out feeling a little lighter.

Come clear your head and dance with us at R&J Ballroom!

YOU DO NOT NEED A PARTNER TO LEARN HOW TO DANCE. 💃🕺

We still get calls all the time from people who say, “Oh! I didn’t realize I could come by myself.”

So let’s squash that one right now. 😄

You can come to R&J Ballroom completely on your own.

In our group classes, there are almost always other people attending without partners, and we actually encourage everyone to rotate and dance with different people. Dancing with different partners helps you learn faster because every person feels a little different. You develop better leading, following, timing, and adaptability—and if you do have a regular partner, you bring all of those skills right back to them.

And think about social dancing: if everyone only danced with the person they came with, there wouldn’t be much of a dance party! 😂 Plenty of dancers come to events on their own, and they WANT more people to learn how to dance so there are more people to dance with.

The same goes throughout R&J Ballroom. Private lessons, group classes, parties, Game Nights, showcases and other events—you are absolutely welcome to participate on your own.

There are other students. There are instructors. There are people to dance with.

So please don’t let “I don’t have a partner” be the reason you don’t start. ❤️

❤️ **Better Together**

Dinner is great.

Movies are great.

But sometimes you want a date night where you actually **do something together.**

That's one of the things we love about dancing.

You're learning together, trying things, figuring things out, laughing when it goes completely wrong, and celebrating when it finally goes right.

And sometimes what starts as one date, one lesson, or one reason to learn turns into something you keep doing together.

One of our couples originally came to R&J to learn a dance for their wedding. They enjoyed dancing together enough that they continued taking classes long after the wedding was over.

As they put it:

*“Ballroom dancing is a great way to connect with your significant other.”*

Sometimes a great date night doesn't just give you something to do tonight.

**It gives you something you can keep doing together.** ❤️

🌮 A little local business shout-out!

We drive past Taqueria y Pupuceria La Bendición on Fulton all the time and have been saying forever that we needed to stop and try it.

Well… we finally did. And it was DELICIOUS. 😂

So we figured we’d share the love!

If you’re heading to the studio for a lesson or class and realize you haven’t eaten yet, stop by and grab a bite on your way. You might just find a new favorite local spot!

We love getting the chance to support other small businesses in our community — especially when tacos are involved. 🌮😂

💡 R&J Dance Tip
**Know What You're Practicing**

Before you start repeating something, make sure you know what you're trying to improve.

Is it the footwork?

Timing?

Lead or follow?

Balance?

Connection?

Giving your practice a specific purpose makes it much easier to recognize when you're actually improving.

Rachel, keeping the class entertained as always!

One really cool part about our classes is that they are designed for EVERYONE!

A brand new dance student who has never taken a step on the dance floor...

The dancer who has never had formal training but is the first to hit the floor when their song comes on...

The individual who is looking for something fun to do and a supportive community to do it with...

The dancer dreaming of performing or wearing that medal around their neck...

Whatever your dance wishes are, we think the key is having people around you who nurture that interest and are always there to support you.

Here at R&J Ballroom, we have that by the buttload! 😁

Join us on the dancefloor and nurture your inner child!! 💃🕺

Group classes are a great place for beginners to learn.

But that doesn't mean they're *only* for beginners.

As dancers improve, group classes can still be a great place to learn new material, strengthen familiar patterns, work on timing and partnering, and get more comfortable actually dancing with what you know.

And here's something experienced dancers figure out pretty quickly:

**You can almost always get better at something you've already learned.**

The pattern might be familiar, but your timing, technique, connection, lead, follow, or overall understanding can continue to improve.

There's a reason good dancers keep going back to class.

Learning the steps is only the beginning. 😄

❤️ **Better Together**

Have you ever wished you and your significant other had something you could do together?

Something that's *yours*.

That's actually one of the reasons many couples first walk through our doors.

One of our students recently shared this about why she and her husband started dancing:

*"We started because we wanted to have something we do together. Life is crazy and we needed to intentionally connect. This has been great for that."*

And we love that reason.

Dance lessons give you more than somewhere to go together. You're learning something together. You're figuring things out together. You're laughing at the mistakes, celebrating when something finally clicks, and building a skill you can actually enjoy together outside of the studio.

Sometimes learning to dance starts with something as simple as...

**"We need something that's ours."** ❤️
