Based in Camden, our AMGA-certified guides lead adventures in Acadia, Katahdin, and beyond creating memorable experiences and skill-building for all! Equinox Guiding Service, established in 2017, is a Maine-based climbing school that caters to all experience levels. From beginners taking their first steps on the rock face to seasoned climbers seeking to refine their skills, Equinox offers a variety of climbing adventures. Their certified AMGA guides lead rock climbing excursions throughout Maine, including trad and sport climbing, as well as ice climbing in the winter. With a focus on safety and skill development, Equinox Guiding Service helps climbers achieve their climbing goals in some of Maine's most stunning locations.

September in Maine is pretty hard to beat.

Teach an SPI course in Camden. Run over to Acadia for a couple days of climbing. Head back home and do it all over again.

We’ve been covering some ground lately.

From the sea cliffs of Acadia to our home cliffs here in Camden, the last few weeks have been full of great people, beautiful weather, and a whole lot of climbing.

At this point I think we’re getting pretty good at this whole climbing-around-Maine thing.

September and October are two of my favorite months to be on the cliffs. Cooler temperatures, fewer crowds, and some beautiful days ahead.

All I want is to be free.

The last week has been a good reminder of why I love this work.

We’ve spent our days climbing with people from all over, introducing new climbers to the sport, getting returning climbers onto new terrain, and sharing some of our favorite places here in Maine.

A lot of smiling faces. A lot of beautiful days outside. And a whole lot of climbing.

Summer may be winding down, but some of my favorite climbing of the year is just beginning. September and October in Maine are pretty hard to beat.

Thanks to everyone who has trusted us with a day outside.

Where did August go?

Looking back through these photos this morning and there are a whole lot of smiling faces.

August was busy. We climbed with families, first-time climbers, returning clients, mentorship students, and people who traveled a long way to experience climbing here in Maine.

There were beautiful days in Camden, days climbing above the ocean in Acadia, plenty of laughs, some big accomplishments, and a lot of really good people.

As busy as summer can get, looking back through these photos reminds me what I love most about this work. It’s the people we get to meet and the experiences we get to share with them.

Thank you to everyone who trusted us with part of your summer.

And now we’re heading into one of my favorite times of year to climb in Maine. September and October are pretty hard to beat.

Maybe this is why I’ve always been drawn to climbing.

It takes us away from the crowds and into places we might otherwise never experience.

Quiet cliffs. Mountains. Islands. The ocean below us. Places where the phone gets put away and, for a little while, the rest of the world feels pretty far off.

After more than 20 years of climbing, I still seek out that feeling.

And getting to share it with others is one of the things I love most about this work.

Take me to the mountains.

It’s hard to believe we’re already this far into August.

This summer has taken us all over Maine—climbing above the ocean, into the mountains, around the islands, and back home to the cliffs here in Camden.

Different places. Different people. Different adventures.

But what I love most hasn’t really changed. Getting outside, sharing these places with people, and watching someone discover what climbing can mean to them.

After all these years, I still feel incredibly fortunate that this is what I get to do for a living.

Summer isn’t over yet. If you’ve been thinking about climbing with us in Camden or Acadia, our remaining August dates are getting pretty limited.

Where did July go?

One minute we were kicking off summer camps, and the next we were looking back at a month full of incredible days on the cliffs.

July brought first-time climbers, returning friends, families making memories together, beautiful days in Camden and Acadia, and more smiles than I could count.

Looking through these photos reminds me that while every climb is different, the best part is always the people we get to share these places with.

Thank you to everyone who spent part of your summer with us. Whether it was your first time climbing or your fiftieth, we’re grateful you chose to spend the day with Equinox.

Some weeks remind me why I became a climbing guide.

Not because of the summits or the grades.

Because of the conversations on the trail. Watching someone rappel for the first time. Seeing kids discover they’re capable of more than they imagined. Looking out over the ocean with people experiencing Maine from a perspective they’ll never forget.

I’ve been thinking about that a lot lately.

This summer has reminded me that Equinox has never just been about climbing. It’s about helping people connect with wild places, challenge themselves, and create memories they’ll carry long after the ropes are packed away.

As we get closer to celebrating ten years of Equinox, I find myself feeling incredibly grateful—for everyone who’s trusted us, supported us, and become part of this community.

Last week was one of those weeks that reminds me why I love this job.

We watched a whale surface below Otter Cliffs while we were climbing. Saw a moose wandering through the Maine woods. Guided on two different islands. Climbed sea cliffs above the Atlantic Ocean. Then wrapped up the week back on the granite in Camden.

No two days are ever the same.

People often ask what my favorite place to guide is, but the truth is it’s hard to choose. One day we’re looking out over Penobscot Bay, the next we’re watching waves crash below us in Acadia, and sometimes nature throws in a whale or a moose just to remind us how wild this place really is.

I feel incredibly lucky to call Maine home and even luckier that I get to share it with so many amazing people.

Here’s to another week of climbing and seeing what surprises are waiting around the next corner.
