Let's talk about scar remodeling in breast cancer patients since October is just around the corner....
Did you know you can change the landscape of a scar?
With breast surgeries of all types, scarring is a reality of the journey. We essentially undergo surgery because we have been given a few options, and we have to decide pretty quickly how we want to proceed.
If you need a knee or hip replacement, you generally have time to realize surgery is coming. There are aches, pains, and PT, maybe some cortisone shots, and then you heave a big sigh and say, "OK. Let's schedule a surgical consult."
With breast cancer, maybe you find a lump, or your mammogram shows something suspicious. Then you wait for diagnostic testing and biopsies. Every surgical option is going through your mind. "Do I opt for a double mastectomy? A single mastectomy? Reconstruction?...." Through my own journey, the one single thought on my mind was that I needed to do whatever it took to continue to live my life for my family.
Then we get through it all and come out on the other side. We have a daily and constant reminder of what our bodies endured through the scarring
Scar remodeling is something YOU get to take control of. If your scars are pulling and causing limitations in your movement, if you have altered sensation or nerve-related symptoms, or if your nervous system is on high alert, I've got you.
Scar work is slow work, but that doesn't make it ineffective. Your body and your nervous system need intentional work to allow healing to happen.
Allow me to help you move through the other side of surgery on YOUR terms. If you are curious if scar work would be appropriate for you, schedule a discovery call through my booking app or send a DM. I'd be honored to work with you.
