Personal safety begins within your own mind. If you want your situational awareness to improve you first must analyze your current automatic thoughts, behaviors, and actions.

What situations do you struggle with in your life?

What decisions and behaviors take your attention from your current environment?

What needs improvement so you start trusting yourself in any circumstance?

We’re building something from the ground up at KM Self Defense—and we want you to be part of it.

Our vision is simple: develop stronger, more capable people who can think, communicate, and act when it matters.

We’re a new program, but our vision is much bigger than where we are today.

Start training today, you’ll thank your past self.

Introducing inside position and transition options in the fight.

Working through headlocks.

Priorities are:

1. Protect your neck ( tucking the chin early is key) to prioritize airflow and blood supply to the brain.

2. Stay standing if feasible, if you go down still prioritize tucking the chin and keeping airflow and blood flow to the brain. If the choke is released, prioritize their arms and hands hitting or choking you. Prioritize not getting stuck on your back.

3. Strike primary targets; to remove yourself from the person and immediate area.

Stick defense: Overhead swing

When you have early recognition and readiness the general idea here is to burst in protecting your head and to immediately strike. Knee is a great first option.

This video highlights takeaway options utilizing body leverage against the grip; inward and outward depending on hand positioning.

Important note: Bursting in is an option, so is a takeaway and depends based off the specifics of the fight. Some specifics might be the environment, no option to retreat, nothing to use as a shield, your mental and physical condition etc. list can go on.

KM Self Defense uses small challenges and fight problems to help students learn, adapt, and make decisions faster.

Based off responses, you can quickly add new problems into the fight. Progression doesn’t need to be slow if you are actually paying attention as a coach.

Solving the fight problem from your back.

Priorities: Take back the initiative!

Protect your vitals (movement, frames, controlling limbs)
Don’t get pinned (movement, frames, posts, striking)
Getting back to your feet (movement, frames, striking, choke, limb control)

These is not a complete list. Start adding more goals for the attacker and the defender. Start solving problems based off the priorities.
