I started my martial arts journey alongside my son, inspired by a strong woman instructor and a school that felt like family. Today, I’m proud to teach, lead, and help students build confidence, character, and discipline — both on and off the mat. I believe in creating lifelong martial artists and future leaders who don’t just follow in my footsteps — they leap beyond them. My goal is to build communities grounded in respect, resilience, and purpose.

Life is hard—even when you’re young.

​Doing after-school pickups today, I overheard a conversation between three of our students in the back of the van. One of the kids was opening up about some heavy stuff they were going through—feelings and struggles no child should have to handle alone.

​What happened next reminded me why we do what we do.

​Without skipping a beat, the other two kids offered pure compassion, encouragement, and support. 💕

​Martial arts is about so much more than kicks, punches, or earning belts. The real heart of what we teach is character development. Life brings tough moments—loss, change, and challenge—and every kid needs to know two things:
​They are strong enough to make it through.
​They don't have to go through it alone.

​We strive to build a community where kids learn not only to stand strong for themselves, but to stand up and be there for others when life gets hard.

We are so excited to introduce our new Judo instructor!

Owen Yurko grew up doing karate and judo, earning his junior black belt under Grandmaster Shigeki Umemoto of Toushi Kan Martial Arts Academy in Great Falls. He graduated from Montana State University with a degree in Health and Human Performance and held his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification before moving to Dillon. Now a Ikkyu brown belt, training under Grandmaster Dave Allen of Martial Arts Academy of Billings and USA Judo National Champion John Amtmann, Professor at Montana Tech University in Butte, Owen is continuing his journey in Judo and is excited to share his knowledge with others.

For the past few years, Owen has assisted the Montana Tech University judo club and is a passionate believer in Judo’s benefits to self defense and injury prevention.

Owen Yurko is excited to bring the tenets of judo- respect, etiquette, loyalty, modesty, patience, and indomitable spirit to Beaverhead and Silverbow Counties.
