A big shoutout to Firefighters Lee Sullivan and Aaron Facincani for coming out to with the Butte Police for practice today! 🥎

These two brought plenty of laughs, great energy, and outstanding sportsmanship to the field. We appreciate them stepping away from the firehouse and onto the diamond to help us get ready for the big game!

It’s all about community, teamwork, friendly competition, and coming together for a great cause.

We’re getting closer to game day! With a great crowd expected, we want everyone who comes out to have a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable time.

🌦️ Montana weather can be unpredictable, so please come prepared!

☂️ Umbrella: Great for shade if the sun is out — and helpful if Mother Nature decides to send us some rain.

🪑 Bring a chair: We are expecting a strong turnout, so we highly recommend bringing your own lawn chair.

🧴 Sunscreen: Don’t forget the sunscreen! Even a cool Montana day can bring plenty of sun.

🧥 Warm clothing: Montana can change quickly. We recommend bringing a sweatshirt, jacket, or other warm layers so you’re prepared if temperatures drop.

👟 Dress for the conditions: Come ready for whatever Montana throws our way!

Guns & Hoses softball game to be held Sept. 26 at Stodden Park

September 16, 2026 — 9:15 a.m.

The inaugural Guns & Hoses softball game between Butte police officers and firefighters gets underway at 1 p.m. on Sept. 26, at Stodden Park.

This isn’t the first time the departments have met as rivals. They battled it out on the gridiron and the basketball court. They have even competed against each other in local blood drives. Extending that rivalry to the ballpark has been elusive until now.

Butte police officer Jorey Thatcher and Butte firefighter Konnor O’Neill are organizers of the sporting event.

The game will include 15 police officers on the “Guns” team and 14 firefighters representing the “Hoses.”

On the roster for the police officers are Josh Robinson, Joe Lubick, Tim Berger, Gene Taylor, Chris Tierney, Ben Girdler, Blake Kraus, Tyler Costello, Josh Stearns, Cameron Gardipee, Jessica LeProwse, Mike Regan, Jennette Miller, Bryce Foley and Dale Reynolds.

The team of firefighters include Konnor O’Neill, Kahl Clark, Jake Hanley, Jerry Ellison, Marko Weitzel, Wayne Butori, Lee Sullivan, Jerod Gonzalez, Aaron Facincani, Matt Doble, T.W. Bolton, John Liebel, Levi Davenport and Dan Boyle.

Proceeds will aid the nonprofit, Mariah’s Challenge, which was launched on Feb. 2, 2008, in honor of Mariah Daye McCarthy.

McCarthy, 14, was hit and killed by a 20-year-old drunken driver on Oct. 28, 2007. The nonprofit was founded to educate kids and parents about the dangers of drinking and to foster a change in Butte, a town with a long history of alcohol use and abuse.
