Unfortunately, hundreds of Pennsylvania hunters have been seriously injured due to tree stand-related accidents.

With the statewide deer archery opener right around the corner on Saturday, October 3, be sure to always prioritize safety by wearing a full-body harness when leaving the ground, inspecting equipment before each use, choosing a sturdy living tree, and in case of emergencies, hunting with a partner or carrying a whistle or signaling device.

25 years later, we remember.

We remember the 2,977 lives lost on September 11, 2001.

We remember the 343 FDNY firefighters who answered the call and never returned home.

We remember the police officers, paramedics, dispatchers, rescue personnel, and ordinary Americans who ran toward danger when others were trying to escape it.

And we remember the countless first responders who carried the weight of that day for years afterward.

For those of us in the rescue community, September 11 is more than a date in history. It is a reminder of what service, courage, sacrifice, and duty truly mean.

Today, we honor the fallen, their families, and everyone who answered the call.
