The Fireballs brought the heat this season, taking home the division title and finishing it off with a tournament championship.

Join us Saturday, September 26 at 10 a.m. at Robinson Park (1021 Rauhut Street) as the City of Burlington officially dedicates the Joe Foust Sr. Playground, honoring a man whose life and legacy are deeply woven into the Burlington community.

Long before a playground stood here, the site was home to Mr. Foust’s Barco Service Station, a place where young people gathered, felt welcomed and connected with their community. Now, the same ground continues to bring children, families and neighbors together.

We invite the community to join the Foust family and the City of Burlington as we celebrate Mr. Foust’s legacy of service, generosity and commitment to others and officially dedicate the playground in his honor.

Parking is limited. We encourage you to carpool if possible.

Springwood Players’ Course features a championship-level layout for experienced players, plus a six-hole Rookie Run that’s perfect for beginners, families and anyone learning the game. Chimney Hills Disc Golf Course offers a wooded, technical challenge through rolling terrain and mature hardwoods, rewarding accuracy and strategy.

Calling all adventurers!

The 2026 Alamance Adventure Race is happening Saturday, September 26th! Get ready for 12 hours of fun and epic challenges! The Alamance Adventure Race is a county-wide scavenger hunt for all ages. Starting at 7:30am, teams will gather at Bill Cooke Park in Graham and at 8 AM will launch out to all corners of the county to find challenges and collect as many points as possible. Teams will utilize the Eventzee app on their smartphones to make it all happen (just one team member needs to have the app installed). With more challenges than any one team can finish, you will have to capture moments, find items, and complete wild activities to get as many points as you can! Teams will visit parks, businesses, open areas, and more! If it's in Alamance County, you're probably going there! Challenges are scaled in points based on the challenge, difficulty, or location.

NEW THIS YEAR! - We are adding a Grand Finale to our traditional event. This year all teams will be invited back to Bill Cooke Park for additional challenges (lots of points!), food and awards presentation. We hope this ends up being the cherry on top of an already great event. So feel free to hang out, eat, and share your adventure stories. Graham Recreation and Parks also has a Movie in the Park planned that evening so stick around for Lilo and Stitch.
Make no mistake, to win is hard work, having an absolute blast all day with your family and friends is easy. Prizes will be given to the top 3 finishing teams with the most points!

Exciting news from the Celo Faucette Community Garden!

We’re welcoming our fourth flush of monarch caterpillars this season! A count this week found 21 monarch caterpillars making themselves at home in the garden.

It’s exciting to see the community garden providing habitat for these important pollinators and even more exciting to watch the next generation of monarchs grow right before our eyes.

The 2026 Battle for Burlington is back October 16–18 and this year we’re adding a third day of competition!

Now in its second year the Battle for Burlington brings pickleball players together for a weekend of competition, community and, of course, bragging rights. Who will come out on top and earn the title of best in Burlington?

Whether you’re new to weaving or ready to build on your skills, this hands-on class is for you! Explore the art of round weaving and learn how to create and use a basic square loom, all while enjoying the beautiful outdoor setting of the Burlington Arboretum.

Join us for Artists in Parks on Thursday, September 17 from 6–8 p.m. The class is open to ages 9 and up, and the cost is $6 per person.

Soccer season is here at Davidson and Springwood parks.

As players, coaches and families head to the fields, help us keep traffic and parking moving smoothly throughout the day.

-Please park only in designated parking areas and avoid parking along curbs or other non-designated spaces.

-We’ve built a 15-minute buffer between games to help with transitions. Once your game has ended, we ask that you make your way out of the park in a timely manner so parking spaces can become available for the next round of players and families.

A little cooperation from everyone goes a long way to keep traffic flowing and make game day a great experience for all.

Most of all, have fun!
