Yesterday we had another opportunity of hosting a focused black belt training seminar at the dojo. It was a time of serious training—sharp technique, strong spirit, and the kind of focused work that only comes when dedicated black belts train side by side. From the formal group photo in front of the torii to the lines of practitioners driving through combinations across the mat, the energy in the room was excellent.
Just as important as the training was the time that followed: sitting down together, sharing a meal, and enjoying the camaraderie and friendship that make this community special. Breaking bread after hard work on the floor is one of the best parts of what we do.
Kudos to everyone who attended, trained hard, and stayed to connect afterward. Days like this strengthen both our technique and our bonds. We look forward to the next one.

There are moments in martial arts that deserve to be celebrated—not simply because of the rank earned, but because of the years of dedication, discipline, and perseverance behind it.
At our Summer Promotion Event, we had the honor of recognizing five of our adult students with advanced weapons Black Belt ranks, along with two of our junior students who earned higher-level Self-Defense ranks.
We also celebrated the accomplishments of many other students who earned their next level of colored belt rank. Every promotion represents progress—a commitment to training, learning, overcoming challenges, and continuing to grow.
Whether earning your first new belt or reaching an advanced Black Belt level, every step along the journey matters. Congratulations to all of our students who were promoted! 👏🥋 We are incredibly proud of your hard work and dedication.

⚔️ Where Martial Arts and Art Become One 🎨
This week, the Masters In Motion team had the opportunity to lead a unique workshop for a local children's art camp, exploring the fascinating connection between Japanese swordsmanship and traditional Japanese calligraphy (Shodō).
Although one uses a sword and the other a brush, both are built on the same timeless principles: focus, balance, posture, breathing, precision, and intention. In traditional Japanese culture, the sword and the brush have long been viewed as complementary disciplines—each refining the mind and spirit in its own way.
After learning these concepts, the students created their own calligraphy artwork to take home, experiencing firsthand how movement, mindfulness, and creativity work together.
At Masters In Motion, we believe martial arts is about much more than punches and kicks. It's about developing character, appreciating culture, and discovering that some of life's greatest lessons come from unexpected places.
A heartfelt thank you to our volunteer instructors and staff who made this experience possible, and to all of the amazing young artists who brought so much curiosity and enthusiasm!
The sword teaches discipline. The brush teaches expression. Together, they teach mastery.

They say that a martial arts school is built on its culture, but we believe it is built on its people. We recently captured this moment with some of our incredible team, and it serves as a wonderful reminder of what lies at the very heart of everything we do: comradery, connection, and community.
While our training focuses on discipline, strength, and personal growth, the real magic happens through the bonds we build along the way. We aren't just a group of instructors and students sharing a mat—we are a family. Every milestone celebrated, every challenge overcome, and every laugh shared inside and outside the dojo strengthens the foundation of our community.

Congratulations to all the recipients of our Spring rank promotion event. We also had the pleasure of awarding a couple of black belts, one in self-defense and the other in sword (very hard to get). You guys rock!

Happy Mother’s Day to the warrior moms of our dojo 🥋
To the incredible women who show up, bow in, and pour their hearts into this community — happy Mother’s Day.
Whether you’re raising little ones at home or nurturing the next generation right here on these mats — you lead with patience, grit, and an open hand. You make our dojo family stronger just by being part of it.
Today we honor every one of you: the moms who drive kids to practice, the ones who stay late to help a training partner, and the women whose guidance and care shape us all. You are seen. You are celebrated. OSU! 🙏
With love & respect from your dojo family ❤️

Our team had a great time representing Masters in Motion at this year’s Recreation Fair. We spent the day meeting families, connecting with community partners, and giving hands‑on demonstrations of what makes our martial arts program unique.
Our system is built so every technique can be adjusted for age, ability, mobility, and real‑world needs. It was powerful to show parents, kids, and community members how martial arts can be accessible, safe, and confidence‑building for every body.
From interactive drills to foam‑sword play, from weapons displays to one‑on‑one coaching, our staff brought energy, expertise, and a whole lot of smiles. We’re grateful for the chance to share what we do and to support a community that values inclusion, movement, and lifelong learning.

Grateful to support our city’s Adaptive Sports Day last weekend. Our team had a blast working with athletes of all abilities—and it was the perfect place to share what our martial arts is all about: training that’s adaptive by design, built to adjust to every body, every limitation, and every moment.
