What a display this 16u/18u team (sponsored by Chaffee Chick Design and Coops Red Caboose) put on tonight as they defeated Dansville 24-7 and pounded out 24 hits in the process. If it were in the strike zone our girls were ready and hit the ball hard throughout. Kelcie Songster was 4-4 with 3 runs scored and 2 RBI, Kailyn Riggerman was 3-4 with 2 runs scored and 6 RBI, Savannah Beaudette was 3-3 with a home run, 2 runs scored and 4 RBI, Peyton Comstock was 3-3 with a home run, 3 runs scored and 4 RBI, Grace Cornell was 3-5 with 4 runs scored and 2 RBI, Amileah Muhisin was 2-4 with two runs scored and 2 RBI, Leah Johnson was 2-4 with one run scored and 2 RBI, Karissa Keller was 1-2 with four runs scored, Mya Raley was 3-4 with 3 runs scored and Mackenzie Leigh Johnson didn't register a hit but was productive scoring a run and an RBI. It was an impressive display of offense but the defense and pitching was just as effective as

Savannah Beaudette registered 5 strikeouts in the circle and Mackenzie Leigh chipped in with two as did Mya Raley for a total of nine for the game. Savannah also had a pair of plays while at shortstop and one in the circle while Amileah made a great play in left field and the team run down play worked to perfection as they ultimately tracked down a Dansville runner trying to advance to third base. Our catchers were great behind the plate and hitting the cutoffs were perfect (practice matters). The win improved the teams overall record to 17-14 with more than three weeks left in the season and three tournaments. Great job to all the girls!! Go-FastPitch-Go!!

Last night vs Chadwick Bay both teams came out a little shaky defensively, committing uncharacteristic mistakes leading to an 7-5 Cardinal deficit after 1.5 innings of play. Grace Cornell, Leah Johnson, Mya Raley , Tessa Dominesey and McKenzie Bauder all scored in the first but were definitely helped by a couple Bay mistakes and the same could be said in the top of the second as Chadwick Bay roared back for seven runs off starter Tessa Dominesey. Hayley Richards, Dylan Baldwin and Kaiyln Riggerman all reached base but we're unable to score. Tessa was also struck by a line drive but refused to come out until the damage intensified and Grace Cornell struck out the final batter of the inning. It was clear Chadwick Bay came to hit and after taking the lead, the Cardinals answered with three of its own by Mya, Tessa and Natalie Laskowski to take an 8-7 lead.
In the third Chadwick Bay kept coming against reliever Cornell and tied things at 8-8 before McKenzie Bauder made a great catch in center field and Tessa did the same at shortstop to stop further damage. Kaitlyn Riggerman and Mya Raley again scored to give the Cardinals a 10-8 lead in the home half of the inning. Grace posted six consecutive strikeouts while the offense extended its lead to 15-8 as the bats continued. Grace, Leah, Mya, Natalie and Amileah Muhisin all scored as McKenzie Bauder had the big 2-run single, giving her five RBI for the game. Natalie Laskowski, Amileah, Leah and Grace all had singles in the inning as well totalling 11 for the game.
In the sixth Grace recorded her ninth strikeout, caught a pop up and watched Dylan Baldwin throw the final Chadwick Bay runner out at second base trying to steal as the score ended 15-8 in favor of the Cardinals. A little bit of everything in this game, but the girls were commended for persevering and not giving up early on when things didn't go right, they continue to play hard and sometimes that will get a team through games.
The 14u team (sponsored by Edelweiss Farms) record now stands at 22-10-1 as they face a unique weekend set of games in Williamsville at Aunt Rosie's and in Penfield for the Safe at Home 14u tournament. Friday the Virginia Bombers and Shakespeare Falcons get things started and then Saturday the All Americans and Lancaster Heat will be the opponents locally and in Penfield, Letchworth, Hamburg Dawgs and the Webster Extreme gets things started at Safe at Home. Wow, what a weekend full of action for all our 14u Cardinals at two different tournaments. Good Luck to all our players this weekend!!

What a great scrimmage tonight as the 14u team defeated the 16u squad 11-2. Plenty of pitching, fielding, bunting, hitting and non-stop hustle. We even had some Storm girls participate as we prepare for both Aunt Rosie's and Safe at Home 14u tourney in Penfield. Great game girls and I think we can agree that it's gonna be a fun weekend for Cardinal Nation!! But first 14u is hosting Chadwick Bay tomorrow (6:30pm) and 16u travels to Dansville Thursday (6:15pm) Go-FastPitch-Go!!
