Front tie downs for your kayak or canoe.
If your vehicle doesn't have a metal loop under the front for securing a line, or if you don't want a rope or strap coming up in front of the bumper, you can put a nylon strap under the hood and attach it to a fender bolt.
You can buy ready made straps, but they might be too short, depending on the hood contours.
Buy 3 or 4 feet of 1" nylon webbing. Determine how long it needs to be for a good fit, and cut to that length - Note that you'll need to fold each strap in half to form a 6" loop, so each strap length should be approx. 12 inches, or longer, depending on your vehicle.
Punch or drill holes at each end of both straps Remove a fender bolt, thread it through both holes on one of the straps, and reinstall the bolt.
Fold the new strap and tuck it inside/under the hood when not needed. Fold it outside and close the hood to use the loops for securing your boat. See photos
