As part of HEMA Bookshelf's Thibault Project, they purchased 31 original painted illustrations from the book, digitized them, and are donating the scans to Wiktenauer. We're going to be posting one new one each week until we run out!

This week, we have Book 1, Table 5, on basic principles and counters. It's now in place on both the master and treatise pages.

This print was engraved by Johann Gelle before 1625, printed in the Elzevier workshop in Leiden between 1626 and 1630, and then painted by an unknown artist some time in the 17th century. It includes a dedication to Johann Sigismund, Elector of Brandenburg.

We don't know whether it was cut out of a fully-painted bound book or simply removed from an unbound copy.

These scans are so large (around 90 megapixels) that neither Mediawiki nor Facebook will render out thumbnails for them. This means that we're releasing two sizes: a 96 dpi version that won't make computer systems cry and can be posted anywhere, and a 300 dpi (print-resolution) version that you can only access directly on the Wiktenauer file page.
