Post 3hr ride to Lockhart. It’s the last bigger ride before I do the 100k ride in Marfa this weekend. A ride to Lockhart was my first 100k. Last year’s ride in Marfa was my hardest 100k. Today I reflected on what progress means and how sometimes it’s invisible to us. Today I FELT some improvements. I’m looking forward to putting my best foot forward this weekend and I know for a fact I will have improved as a rider. Thank you so much , , and for both the best training and coaching. If any of y’all are headed West this weekend, make sure to say hey.

Power test: A story

I stopped here to check Google maps against my Strava route becausemy mileage was adding up as it should and I had a slow leak in my back tire. I was 30 miles into a route and way off course to getting back home at 42 miles so that I could check out on time. Turns out I was in fact way off. I turned around and saw the sticker where I had leaned my bike. The road was daring me to get frustrated…as I ride my bike in a new place, on vacation, on a beautiful day. No way. I had to laugh. And grab a photo. Sometimes when things seem bad, they’re really just a different kind of good. I made it back in time, the tire held, and I saw some of Santa Fe I had not planned. Even ran into a Coyote because of it. Pretty good day on the bike.
