This is the official page of the City of Brunswick, MD. Brunswick began as a stop on the C&O Canal.

This page is used to share information about governmental activities and is maintained by City of Brunswick staff. Soon, the great steam locomotives of the B&O Railroad replaced the tranquil transit of canal boats, and a boomtown was born. Today, Brunswick serves as a hub of the MARC rail system, carrying passengers into DC's Union Station. Brunswick's unique location makes it the perfect place for outdoor recreation, and a wonderful place to call home.

🚰 Hydrant Flushing Begins TODAY, July 8 🚰

The City of Brunswick Department of Public Works will begin a new round of hydrant flushing on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, starting in Zone 1. This routine maintenance helps keep our drinking water clean, clear, and flowing strong throughout the community.

What to expect:
βœ… Water flowing into streets as crews open hydrants
βœ… Temporary water discoloration (slightly brown or cloudy)
βœ… Air in water lines that may cause faucets to sputter
These conditions are normal and are not harmful to your water.

What you should do:
πŸ’§ Run cold water from your faucets for a few minutes if water appears discolored
🧺 Avoid doing laundry until the water runs clear
πŸ’§ Once the water is clear, it is safe to use as normal
Running your taps helps clear sediment from your home's plumbing.

For the full hydrant flushing map and zone-by-zone schedule, visit the City's Public Works page here: https://brunswickmd.gov/index.asp?SEC=801AF664-7B52-4491-845D-A65B1B0C6EA8&DE=294D1E82-23B6-434E-B84A-A633FB80F777

Thank you for your patience as we perform this important maintenance to ensure safe, clean, and reliable drinking water for Brunswick residents. πŸš°πŸ’™
