Until tomorrow… #017

No matter what today has brought, we still have the opportunity to choose who we’ll become.

That is the beauty of choice. It’s yours. It’s mine. It’s ours. No one can make those choices for us.

Every day presents opportunities to choose kindness over bitterness, gratitude over complaining, grace over judgment, hope over fear, and integrity when no one is watching. We can choose to keep showing up, to give our best, and to celebrate others wholeheartedly, even when no one is celebrating us.

Our character isn’t built by applause. It’s revealed by the choices we make day after day, especially when no one else sees them.

The older I get, the more grateful I become that my identity isn’t rooted in the approval of people. The affirmation I treasure most comes from knowing I’m walking faithfully with God and becoming more like the person He created me to be.

As this day comes to a close, I hope you remember this: no difficult moment, no disappointment, and no lack of recognition has the power to define who you are. Tomorrow will bring new opportunities to choose again.

Thankful Thursday.

Today I’m thankful for ordinary moments.

The kind that rarely make photo albums.

The kind that don’t feel important while they’re happening.

A familiar voice.

A quiet morning.

People I love moving in and out of my day.

A text message.

A shared meal.

Another square on the calendar.

Scripture says,

“Give thanks in all circumstances…” — 1 Thessalonians 5:18

I think that’s because a life isn’t built from a handful of extraordinary moments.

It’s built from thousands of ordinary ones.

And when I look around, I realize I am standing in many of the things I once prayed for.

Today, I’m grateful for this life.

This day.

This one.

Save this one.

The rain started falling, and my first instinct was to wish it away.

I used to think rainy days were something to endure.

Gray skies. Interrupted plans. Sunshine always seemed easier to love.

Then I realized something: when the rain comes, it brings its own kind of beauty.

And over time, I started listening.

To rain tapping against the windows and running in silver streams down the glass.

To thunder rolling across the sky, deep and distant.

To the way a storm slows everything down, wrapping the world in a quieter rhythm.

Maybe that’s why I love them now.

They remind me that not every beautiful day arrives wrapped in sunshine.

Some arrive beneath dark clouds.

Some arrive in seasons we never would have chosen.

And some of the things that matter most become visible only when the sky grows dark.

Today, the rain is falling.

The coffee is warm.

Everyone I love is under roofs, safe and warm.

Gratitude has changed for me over the years.

I used to think it lived in the big moments.

The milestones.

The celebrations.

The dreams coming true.

Now I find it in smaller places.

A text from someone I love.

A familiar voice.

A chair pulled up to the table.

Coffee growing cold because the conversation was too good to leave.

The ordinary things.

The things I once hurried past.
